It's important to understand that this is not the final point in a person's journey. The most important part is setting up the necessary circumstances that will allow you to begin dealing with the issues one by one. Hopefully this was her beginning , so that progress can be made. When exploring one area of mental health issues , often more information comes to the forefront. And with the right help and encouragement , they can also be dealt with. Allowing the person to make progress and not remain in a life of constant suffering.

I get the distinct impression that while they say that integration doesn't need to happen, they strongly encourage that to be the case and it doesn't feel right to me. Jusf a subtal suggestion? No, what it actually feels like is manipulation. I split as a child and dont think i completely seperated but had periods of disassociation with no memory of certain things taking place. The parts in me were only ever known to my adult aspect by ages finishing by the age of 16 when something changed internally and I stopped splitting. Integration is not for everyone and that has to be respected by the therapeutic team.

I am surprised I don't have D.I.D. I experienced a very abusive childhood, with a lot of violence and emotional abuse, as well as being born into a family pedophilia ring. (Grand father father, uncle) After my older sisters left home, I was frequently "Sold" to a male neighbor in exchange for alcohol. Fortunately for me, the neighbor who most frequently "bought" me, would settle me to watch cartoons on TV with some snacks. I do not feel any pain that my father died 20+ years ago, and have no contact with my mother, who was very selfish, self centered and uncaring. As the third (unwanted) daughter, my grandmother had to shame my parents into bringing me home, they wanted to abandon me at the hospital after my birth.
