Meet 23-year-old Roxanne. She’s dedicated her life to dressing like Hollywood royalty. In a less than glamorous receptionist job with the local council, Roxanne earns just £12,000 per year and her cravings for celebrity clobber come at a price. In just two years Roxanne’s clocked up an unfashionable £14,000 debt, more than a whole year’s salary. Roxanne wants to turn her passion for A-list fashion into a new career, but the reality of her debt means she’s stuck in a rut and heading for skid row.

Whoever came up with the personal shopper idea was a genius. She gets the feeling of shopping, but instead of losing money, she makes it. And she seems to be quite good at it too. I used to shop for fun in my 20's. Then I realized that although a purchase felt exciting , it would probably end up on the floor of my closet one day. Picturing that image made me realize that nothing I bought was going to change my life in some magical way. It was all just "stuff". Also, I started taking pictures of something I wanted to buy instead of immediately buying it, and I was able to not buy the item.

I never thought of that angle by taking pictures-great idea. When I was younger and had a craving for something that I should probably not buy, I would simply leave the store and tell myself I could always go back and get the item that I fancied if I really wanted it. What would usually happen is that I found that, unless I absolutely loved the item, and the pricing was right, etc etc, 85% of the time I didn’t go back to purchase the item.

This girl is exactly the same as me. I’ve wasted my entire teen years impulsively shopping, buying useless clothes that I don’t wear instead of going out and enjoying life with friends. I ended up replacing my shopping addiction with a heroin addiction in the end and now once again I can’t afford to go out and live my life. Addiction is no joke whether that is a psychological addiction or a chemical dependancy. Shopping addiction needs to be taken more seriously, it’s very real. It’s a form of escapism, just like an addiction to drugs or alcohol. people with shopping addiction need help just as much as someone with a drug addiction. it’s filling a void. I hope she learned to get through this.

he isnt a real psychologist, that's why they call him a "psychological coach". he has had no education in medicine and does not posses a doctorate. he is just some dude pretending to be a psychologist. uk has pretty lax laws on calling yourself such a thing when you don't have the educational/clinical experience. that's why he does weird/creepy things with these people that are completely unorthodox. i feel bad for the participants...with him probing into their deepest issues and making judgements...all the while he is just some dude playing doctor dress up.
