Perfect timing! We are starting to plan a family Christmas 2025 trip to Japan with my parents, and decided to concentrate on less touristed places like Kyushu along with places on the west coast of Japan. I just got back from Japan last week and made a first time visit to Fukui to go to the dinosaur museum you featured last year, which until then I had never heard of. It was fantastic! I look forward to seeing what new places you introduce this year. Thanks John!

Great to hear you got on the news! Currently in Kyoto with family, got to experience the Imperial Palace yesterday in early morning and overnight snow, was magical. So few tourists this time of year too! Will be in Tokyo end of next week, for last leg after some skiing in Hakuba. One thing I wanted to mention, Kyoto Railway Museum is amazing; I know you love trains, so highly recommended if you haven't gone yet (make sure you book for the simulators!)

Toyama and Takaoka, Amaharashi ,Himi I've been to all of them and it's amazing there are hardly any tourists and everything is cheap. I love it😊

Did you ride the train, JR Himi Line? If so, is it really beautiful like pictures suggest?

Toyama was a beautiful city. We visited in the immediate days following the noto quake in 2024. Felt a few aftershocks... The businesses in the area were so grateful that we didn't cancel our booking as a result of the quake. Very beautiful city and an amazing museum. So understated but want to visit again when more businesses are open.
I always wanted to visit Kyushu Region and its prefectures, particularly taking an anime pilgrimage to Saga Prefecture, because of my love for Zombieland Saga.

I feel like that part of Japan don’t really get talked about among foreigners and tourists. Toyama, Kanazawa and Fukui are some places I want to visit mostly Fukui for the dinosaurs.

100% right, it’s far, off the beaten path and foreign KZbinrs want to hit “trends” and don’t care too much about showing new places. Those living in Japan for a while know that the real stories are often away from those tourist hubs.

By the way if you want to do a food live stream there's a Greek / Balkan festival in yoyogi park this weekend

Toyama has been on my radar ever since John made that video many years ago about the “worlds prettiest Starbucks” 😅 Around the same time, promotion gained further traction with the Shinkansen’s arrival. The city also opened new business centres and gained prominence in the MICE world. But yeah, I’ve read more about the prefecture since and I would really love to visit one day. Too many places in Japan are on my list now 😂

I am sure to go there soon for more main channel episodes. I did many on the old channel and have several on this channel. kzbin.infozB6IHk_4CXk?si=aSYNHbCA25zpWwhb and a series on Mito. One driving around here with Dean. There are a lot of lovely places! I wish IbakiraTV still worked with creators.

The Detroit Lions are a favorite to win the Superbowl this year

They’re quite strong this year! I think the Eagles might pull it out and the Chiefs are probably the favorites but it’s going to definitely include the Lions 🦁 so impressed with how Goff has performed when he was so disrespected in the Stafford trade.

I was already going to visit Toyama in May as I have planned a trip to Hokuriku area for that time 😁

Hokuriku is one of the most underrated spots, up and coming for sure! You’re gonna have a blast and eat very well 😋

Hi John, I see Amsterdam and Rotterdam on the list as well. Totally disagree, haha. I loved my city (Amsterdam) for a long time, but not anymore. For me there is one place in the north of The Netherlands which should have been on the list. With such great nature. But yeah...I love Japan.

Well, for this year! Usually that means something special is going on or there’s a reason - maybe 🤔

Detroit? My gosh that's weird. Well its great that Japanese media continues to see you as expert and strong influencer to curious, polite US and other travellers to Japan. So many locals in major world cities are getting weary of screaming, flip flop slapping, rude tourists.

This list turned a lot of head … 🤔
