Never ever, would I ever expect to be cracking up and even snort laugh in a 30 min long video about plant fertilizers!! Oh my gosh by the time you got to the slow motion watering with the alien sounds I was in tears!🤣😂🤣 Anyways, I started my plant collection in the fall so this is my first spring with my plants and I don't know much about fertilizers. I kept seeing the NPK, I kept seeing the 3 numbers and had no idea what any of it meant. Your video was sooo helpful and even more entertaining. Thank you so much for providing this content! Hello! I just want thank you for another very informative, unpretentious video. It is always refreshing and genuinely enjoyable to watch and learn from you. I do the same thing as you do about recycling my water and i sometimes water or fertilize a plant while holding it up above another so it can drip all its excess to the plant beneath. I am more careful about the bottom plant only when fertilizing so i am not getting it on the leaves although I use only kelp and/or fish emulsion to fertilize in liquid form and my all time other favorite is earthworm castings which are absolutely magic to the plants! By the way, I know a Botanist whose Master's degree focused on orchid growing and she said they used to use bananas in the lab to grow orchids from seed(?). That was in Singapore. In the Philippines, they also throw a banana or its peel into the crown of the staghorn fern. Bananas and their wonders! Thank you again! looking forward to more videos from you!

I feel the same way too about movies 😊 On the topic of fertilizers, may I know your thoughts on fish emulsion? One of the plant KZbinrs swear by it to grow bushy & long Scindapsus and Pothos. I am heavily considering getting the Alaska Fish Emulsion 5-1-1 since I have moved all my plants outdoors. Oh, and could you please do a plant care and propagation for Scindapsus Pictus? Mine are soOoOo slow growing, leggy and the aerial roots are just nubs. I would love to have a bushy hanging Scindapsus Pictus. Thank you!🕷

I use a N P K 20 20 20+Te ( Peters Allrounder ) An extremely low EC-value and 60% NPK allow for high nutrient levels without salt stress, which is particularly beneficial for plants from tropical regions, as it allows for high concentrations. Most Philodendron are fertilized at 600 - 1200 microsiemens in the growth phase of all 3 days. I use mineral soil for cacti because it dries out quickly and stores little water. Can you also make a statement about the microsiemens values you feed your plants with? I think that would be something that many others here are interested in. Thanks for your videos. I have learned a lot from you in a short time

Slow motion nyiramnya kocakkk.... jadi gagal fokus 😂😂😂 Jadi, Klo saya nonton you tube, pasti suka saya "tiru" produk yg dipakai apa sih, Cara rawat gmn, dll. Dari yg baru ditonton hmpir Sama dgn yg biasa saya pakai: GrowMore, Osmocote, B1 (Saya selalu pakai ini tiap baru beli tanaman baru atau baru re-potting), Neem oil, Dan satu lagi lupa namanya, saya pakai Furadan jg. Saya pengguna pupuk organik yg saya buat sendiri Dari limbah RT (kulit buah, or potongan sayur), Dan saya sdh pakai ini Dari awal saya punya tanaman & saya terusin sampai sekarang... It works well for me 😀 (klo liat Dari tanamannya yaa yg so far tumbuh daun baru terus, tunas baru Dan makin membesar, Dan sepengelihatan saya sih sehat yaa). Agak bau memang, tapi makin kesini sdh bisa buat trik biar hasil pupuk cair organiknya nga terlalu bau. Air beras juga pakai.....malah air hujan tanaman saya nga kena air hujan 😂 (air cucian beras or air biasa). Tanya: Pernah ada pengalaman menggunakan fish emulsion fertilizer? Ps: Baru nonton yg video soil lengkap dgn bagan tanaman osmosis, transpirasi, gutasi .... Keren sih ini info Metannya (agak Salah urutan nontonnya yaa 😁) Sharingnya berguna & informatif buat saya. Terima Kasih🙏🏽 Keep up the good work 🌿

You are so informative and a lot of the things you explained on this video I heard bits and pieces of it elsewhere from people/research but I never really understand the full gist of how to use them pros and cons what's the purpose of each essential element etc until I saw this you just made it all clear to me and lets me know step by step and in full detail! Thanks so much! Also one question do you use chemical fertilizers for your indoor plants? Just wondering what fertilizers you use for those considering airflow and since it's in a different living conditions than the ones outside?

That was a very informative video , thank you! Few questions, so I use fish emulsion , I also got warm poop, can I use it alternatingly? And if I do use warm poop , how long do I have to wait to fertilize again ?
@onlyplants
@onlyplants 3 жыл бұрын
Yeapp you can use both. I always dilute and use lightly - but frequently. As to how often it depends on many variables... such as the species, how much you dilute, and the quality of the fertilizer. I would say follow your instincts and dont over fertilize 😀

Which one better to use growmore..spray to the foliage or to the soil sir?
@onlyplants
@onlyplants 3 жыл бұрын
Soil for sure. I never spray the foliage because plants cannot take the nutrients up effectively through the leaves

Hello! I can't seem to find much information on this. Do you know if Phosphorus truly encourages verigation in verigated philodendrons? I have heard the higher the nitrogen the greener the leaves will be. What are your thoughts? It makes sense however I don't want to experiment and hurt my plants without being sure. I currently use holy mackerel for all my plants. Should I try a different fert for my verigated plants? Thanks!
@onlyplants
@onlyplants Жыл бұрын
I’ve not heard of any studies supporting phosphorus encouraging variegation… some say high nitrogen can encourage chlorophyll which is the green in leaves. This is why professionals tend to use balanced fertilizer on variegated plants than high nitrogen ones. The best way to promote variegation, is still to start with good genetics. And good light would be the next factor.

Hi Sean, do you think mixing all the fungicide and insecticide would have a bad to the plants? I was a bit shocked but if it works then I should probably start doing that as well haha
@onlyplants
@onlyplants 3 жыл бұрын
Well, those components need to go on the plant one way or another... better to spray it in one go since I haven’t got all the time in the world 😅 so far they are healthy and happy.

I have the same question! Organic vs chemical? I'm worried about damaging them.
@onlyplants
@onlyplants 3 жыл бұрын
Organic for sure. Calatheas require very little fertilizing as they have sensitive leaves. I do use tiny amount os flow release but generally their potting mix already contains lots of organic matter and nutrients. Calathea potting mix our video next friday actually!

I brlieve I use fertilizer ( NPK) improperly that's why my calathea was burned, I wash the calathea & change the soil, hoping it would still survive.
@onlyplants
@onlyplants 3 жыл бұрын
Oooo calatheas dont need a lot of fertilizer. I only use a little bit of slow release fertilizer. The media I grow them in also contains organic decomposing material that provide some nutrients.

If it says “organic fertilizer”, does it always mean it’s natural? And why didn’t you talk about the plant serum which is soooo happening in Indonesia?😅
@onlyplants
@onlyplants 3 жыл бұрын
This depends on your definition of organic. I follow the US FDA definition of organic. But in Indonesia organic refers to anything natural. I don’t believe in the plant hormone as there is no scientific evidence for it. i will believe in it if manufacturer have released a double blind and fair study thats peer reviewed by scientists . So far super drive and B1 have been proven to be placebo.

I use akadama, burnt rice hull, perlite, pumice and maybe vermiculite if I have some nearby. You can easily use anything similar... the key is to get fast draining media that dries 100% within 1 day and water it very infrequently
