Looking good buddy. You look like your having great fun with these chaps.

Hey James, thanks mate! Yeah these were a lot of fun to work on. I always enjoy working on kit bashing when I'm not sure how I'm going to specifically make something. The challenge is definitely part of it 😊
@patricpeters97164 жыл бұрын
Have you thought about using some of the other ranges from Warlord, like the Pike and Shotte infantry? Another range to consider for more civilian clothing is the newer Perry ACW models, specifically the Union infantry in sack coats and the newer Confederate infantry as they have bodies not in the traditional marching pose.
@OnPointHQ4 жыл бұрын
Hey Patric, that's a really good suggestion thank you! I think the ACW idea would work really well, especially confederate uniforms as this would give a rural look to the clothing. Excellent! I shall definitely look into this 😊👍
@patricpeters97164 жыл бұрын
@@OnPointHQ Yeah the "rural look" is something that would sell the idea that these are farmers and village folk who have taken up arms. Might want to look into the WW1 Germans from Wargames Atlantic for older mauser rifles and the MG08 as it would've been more probable for resistance members to steal these from rear-line troops who didn't have the latest and greatest. Actually that WW1 Germans kit would be excellent for Volksstrum because of the antiquated weapons.
@OnPointHQ4 жыл бұрын
I think the antiquated weapons would be a really nice look, especially on Volkssturm. It would give the impression that these weapons have been stored in attics and barns etc and have been rather hastily pressed into service again! The rural look is definitely something that I would want to aim for my resistance figures, it would certainly put them in the right setting as villagers and farmers etc :)

Wonderful work on building up those figures. You have a great eye for the kit bashing and making them work.
@OnPointHQ4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Victor, that's awesome! I'll admit it's the part of the hobby that I always look forward to. I'm painting some Napoleonic French at the minute and haven't kitbashed a single figure.....it feels strange 😁

Brilliant Ste, the Volkssturm look really natural, great job. Love the partisans and the SAS , cracking job mate
@OnPointHQ4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Sean! One thing that really helped when making the Volkssturm was using the heads from the plastic British infantry box as a lot of them look pretty old! The partisans were a lot of fun to build and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out 😊

Excellent project mate, I’ll be taking notes for my VBCW and soviet stuff for the ragtag feel. Have the seen the new metal Soviet People’s militia, some lovely sculpts in there I’m sure you could find some use for
@OnPointHQ4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Josh! It was definitely the ragtag look I want to achieve with these, like civilians that have managed to find and equip themselves with various bits of military equipment. Yup, that looks like a really interesting set of figures and probably has quite a few conversion/kit bashing opportunities in it 😊

I think this video has finally made me decide to get into Bolt Action. Great video and excellent work on the models!

Hey Jordan, thank you buddy! I really enjoyed putting these together although they are still sadly on the long list of things that I need to paint! That's really awesome you deciding to get into Bolt Action, it's a wonderful game and you will definitely enjoy it. If you are interested, check out my playlist Bolt Action Basics. It is a number of short videos that outline the main rule mechanics 🙂👍

Very interesting to see these. Wpuld make great objective markers for games

Thanks Matej, much appreciated! I try and avoid using metal miniatures and parts as much as I can too! My current US Airborne project have metal team weapons but I'm aiming to keep as much plastic in there as I can, much easier to work with and, like you say, they don't fall over 😊

Hey Colton, no worries buddy and thanks for the inspiration! It's not something I'd ever thought about making before but it definitely interested me. Like I said in the video, the most challenging part of making these was altering the uniforms to make them look a lot less like uniforms. Pretty pleased with the results so far though 😊

Great work Ste. It would be really cool to see a video of what’s in your bits box one day. It sounds like an absolute treasure trove. 😉

Great work Ste. The partisans look really unique. I reckon using a similar thought process and techniques you could kit bash some International Brigade for the SCW.
@OnPointHQ4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Paul! That's actually a really good idea. The SCW is a period that I've never gamed but building these partisans has really got me thinking about irregular forces like this. I imagine they'd look pretty cool on the table top 😊

Lovely poses and great job on them!

Thanks Phil! One thing that I always try when I kit bash anything is to use a natural or dynamic pose. It really does change the nature of a figure 😊

Ooohhh where did you find the head for the first figure? It has a French style beret, folding down over the left ear.
@OnPointHQ4 жыл бұрын
The metal head on the guy with the greatcoat? It's from either the European SAS pack or from the SAS jeep, I can't remember which. They both come with a selection of spare heads but I imagine that they can be purchased separately from Warlord Games 😊

Great work, how did you make the feather for the cap, I really liked it.
@OnPointHQ3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Jonny, much appreciated buddy! The feather is from an old Empire kit by Games Workshop. I wasn't entirely sure if it was going to work but it really does give a nice look to the figure 🙂
@jonnyhames70133 жыл бұрын
@@OnPointHQ Well said! It looks great; so much so, I made a partisan sniper yesterday and plagiarized your idea (didn't have a feather so cut a rough shape from a sprue). Keep up the great content!

Great improvisation there! This is why I much prefer to work with plastics, much more options and if something isn't readily available, just scratch build it! Thank you, hopefully more kitbashing videos coming in the future 🙂

I like the volktroops, the brown painted one gaves a lot of civilian feeling, i wish you would have done more that color, even brighter colors, i guess they ware their own cloths in the end of the war, i hate pesky partizans, but i like your conversions, the one with australian feather cap looks fantastic, pirate looking. Cheers! glad you came back to bolt action, i can't spell warhammer stuff. 😂
@OnPointHQ4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Lucian! I wanted to keep the Volkssturm sort of dull in the same way my late war Germans are. I'm not sure why I went with the feather but once I attached it to the hat I was pretty happy with how it looked 😁

Love all the videos, have you got any suggestions on what to buy to start a German Force?
@OnPointHQ4 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, much appreciated! Mine all started with the Fallschirmjager army as you get a lot for a 1000 point army. But another option is to decide what you want your 'core' infantry to be - Grenadiers, Fallschirmjager, SS etc and then add support options, artillery, tanks etc after this. Another way I like to paint/build is by points. Start with 500 and then increase in increments of 250 points. But I would probably say grab an infantry box, get your painting scheme down and then add the support options 😊

@@OnPointHQ - I’ve always thought a kneeling guy with a scratch built detonator plunger would have been a good addition to an SAS unit, he could still have a Lee Enfield strapped to his back and count as a rifleman for gaming purposes 👍
