Hello Steve, 6+ years later is this still the best setup for controlling DMX with OnSong? Just wondering what tech changes have come along. Thanks.

I have tried to add an internal program from my lights to do a chase but once i activate the scene it gets stuck on that scene. Any chance of a more in depth video on how you created the scenes please. I have spent over a week or so trying to get a reply from onsong but nothing still. I am going to lose all my hair if i dont get it sorted soon lol.

Nathan, I've found the DMX thing to be a challenge as well. Certainly not the smoothest of areas in their software. But as a community member and OnSong Certified Trainer, I'm working hard to help get it sorted. It does take some perseverance, AND well documented challenges (which we don't have a lot of, candidly) to give the OnSong team the ability to specifically address. I have found a lot of the challenges are iOS related, but OnSong isn't off the hook by any means... Your video posted in the forum on your challenges is helpful for the team, and we push them all the time. It's a prioritization thing right now (totally get it). Talk to you soon!

What's up bud.. Great video. I'm just starting to get into dmx lighting these days. Got bunch of PA gear after I picked up that Alesis Strike (which still play almost daily and love) and started working on lighting.. I need pick your brain some time over lunch or dinner.. All the best to you and family..

Any time, big fella! Look forward to connecting...

This video sent me down a rabbit hole. Can’t get it to work. Someone needs to do a video on how to get the nodes to connect. My onsong says no Artnet Nodes found🤷♂️

Steve, can I call you? I have the same setup as you except the lights are different. Having no luck in getting this to work. I'll pay you for your time. But I have to get this going. Thanks.

Is there a solution for someone (like myself) who uses their ipad to mix audio on a digital mixer (eg: X air) and also connect to an DMX adaptor for lights? Could I use the same external router or would it mean i would need two routers and only be able to connect to one or the other at any given time?
@stevehanson63275 жыл бұрын
Single router SHOULD be fine. Granted, you are using two separate apps (X18 and OnSong), but all that traffic should be fine on your own router (DON'T use the X18's wireless router in this case).

Is there a way to have a backing track running and have scenes change throughout the song? 00.01 - Scene 1 00.30 - Scene 2 01.10 - Scene 3 01.42 - Scene 2 Etc.
@stevehanson63277 жыл бұрын
Should be, yep. At least done by section (verse chorus, etc. ). Maybe with auto scrolling set to the length of the track it could trigger automatically... haven't played with that specifically, because I have my scenes at sections of the song, and when I scroll with the Bluetooth foot pedal (Stomp6 by Airturn) it changes for me. I also have my Stomp 6 set up in 'gears' in OnSong, so I have all my light scenes able to be pulled at a whim by foot pedal. Sooooo much power in this app!

Hi Steve, any insights on how to run moving heads like a Cameo Cree 400 Hydrabeam?
@stevehanson63276 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't really be any different -- though the movers will have different parameters than simpler lights. If that light isn't already in the library of fixtures, you can add the parameters/fixture manually. GREAT instructional video here: onsongapp.com/videos/dmx and overall scenes video can be seen here: onsongapp.com/videos/scenes

Hi. I have tried and tried and still can't get OnSong to control my DMX light via the EZ Kling. Would love it if you could share how to setup the EZ Kling. I must be doing something wrong. Thanks!

Make sure all pieces (iPad running OnSong and the EZKling) are on the same wireless network. That's the key. Step Two: Connect EZKling to router via Cat5/6 cable (NOT in the colored port - typically yellow) Step Three: As far as EZKling settings (because this isn't supposed to work according to the Elation guys that want to sell you THEIR solution), I have MODE set to ARTNET_U, OUT:DMX. Step Four: Connect out from EZKling to IN on first light in your daisy chain.

HI Steve - Great Video and I have purchased almost the exact setup. Can you specify how you set up your EZ Kling? I work in IT so I have the networking router piece in place correctly but I can't seem to get Onsong to do anything with the lights. Can you tell me what mode you are set up in and how you added the lights in Onsong? Many Thanks!

I have a very similar set up and I’m having a heckuva time getting OnSong support to help me. I guess they just don’t have the resources. I am using Chauvet DMX-AN. I would love to get into the “scenes” part as I have messed around with it using some Lifx bulbs and it was very cool. The problem I’m having is this: one app I have downloaded “photon” has absolutely no problems sending the commands through the network to the Chauvet box then to the lights. However, the set up in OnSong is way more convoluted. Any suggestions?

I too have purchased exactly the same setup - but I cant get OnSong to see an ArtNet node. Does anyone have a resource for me?
