Almost overlooked the sign with the diamond 3 in it and was thinking, "wait a minute, there's no M-3 in Ontario!" Loved the remake and yup that view going down to Hamilton never gets old.

I've never been exactly sure what that "3" sign is for. I've always assumed it's as part of a measured kilometre to asses fair meters in taxicabs and the like, but that's just a pretty big assumption.

I think the best design of controlled access highways is the 400-series highways of Ontario. One of the best in North America.

The night before the Brantford to Hamilton extension was to open, local Police forgot to put the barricades back in place on the Brantford end. My Father took a relaxing drive down that deserted stretch - all the way - and quickly realized why 4 OPP squad cars were lying in wait at the other end! No harm, no foul, but they wouldn’t let him go back the way he came, so... back to Brantford via Highway 2 & 53!

Loved the music. The 403 is a great drive when its not overloaded with traffic.

Indeed. Because of that, it bypasses 401 while ending in 401 on both ends (ending in 401's kilometers 235 and 344) making a complete bypass of 401. However, that's 16 kilometers longer while staying in 403 than staying in the 401 and driving towards Toronto heading east of 403 to QEW will take a quicker time than staying in the 401. That's my opinion. Also forgot to mention, it's a quicker route to Mississauga than in 401.

Like I see and said before, 403 is a bypass route of 401 beginning in Woodstock (exiting 401 in kilometer 235), crossing Hamilton, Oakville, and Burlington and ends near Mississauga (entering 401 in kilometer 344). It also merges QEW from Burlington to Mississauga within QEW's kilometer markers 101 to 123.

When I say bypass, it means a route with both ends connecting a main route.

Speaking of QEW, I consider that as one of the 4 main routes of the 400-series highways of Ontario as well as 400, 401, and 417.

@@MisterFourSeventeen, if you're thinking of the merge of QEW and 403, it's called a concurrency route and it's the only concurrency route of the 400-series highways of Ontario and it's located and parallel to the west-northwest shore of Lake Ontario just closer to the tip.

Heh, must've been in a heavy rock mood that day. I kind of like that dated look through Mississauga. Reminds me of my childhood growing up in Hamilton and taking regular trips through there to Toronto. Would definitely kill the nostalgia factor to modernize it for me.

Reasons why Queen Elizabeth way gets heavy traffic it's actually the main road between Toronto and the United States Buffalo New York State Erie County. 401 to I-75 Detroit MI Toledo and Cincinnati Ohio 402 Detroit via Interstate 69 South Flint Lansing and I-94 Chicago Illinois Milwaukee Wisconsin Minneapolis Minnesota Eventually Seattle Washington where in Billings Montana area merges with Massachusetts and Ohio turnpike's New York State Thruway Interstate 90.

How exactly do they intend to widen the QEW through Mississauga? Other than out at the extreme west end at the Southdown Rd/Erin Mills Pkwy. interchange, there simply isn't any room.

403 in it's kilometers 0 to 80 reminds me of a German autobahn in the middle of nowhere. Because 400-series highways of Ontario inspire Germany's autobahns according to their design.
