Dang, I've been looking at the rat 5 for a few weeks now. Irregardless of what I get Im gonna have to spend money on another sheath. Im a southpaw and want to carry crossdraw. Thats what Im the most comfortable with. Esee cost twice as much as ontario. Then pay for a sheath to suit me? Mmmmm.

I wish I could say it's worth it, but I can't. Unless you make your own, you're looking at a $30 minimum for a sheath. That's if yours came correct from the factory; if not, then you're looking at more money to fix it, or stuck trying to return a sheath for a knife you returned. Check out Holtzman's Gorilla Bloodline. It's around $100, but comes with a sheath designed for multiple carry options, Ferro rod and striker. 4" blade vs 5" on the RAT 5, and 1095 vs 1075 that Ontario now uses. I have both, and the Bloodline is a better knife in every way

I love the rat3 mine came great the wicked edge cut minimal uneven steel just a little at the coil and tip but it was sharp now its a razor ..I was surprised at the belly of the 3 it doesn't stand out in the pictures..they look great thanks for sharing

In my opinion edge grind never bothered me. I look at ontario as a knife that's a diamond in the ruff. I don't mind putting my edge on. Especially at ontario prices. I look at other brands they come sharp but usually you still have sharpen them. Burned edges or whatever. I'm just a ontario fan. Get a bolt at Ace hardware.

I don't mind a rough finish, unevenness or even a dull edge. These were ridiculous. It took hours to make a knife with a flat grind, actually have a flat grind, which is a deal breaker for me. If I have to finish the job, I should receive a discount, or a paycheck
