Great review. However i am not a huge fan of forcing my knife to split wood all the way through. LOL, Much rather use wedges for that sort of thing. I do own the BPS bushcrafter and the BeaverCraft BSH2. Love them both.
@lheastridge
@lheastridge Жыл бұрын
I normally just split until I can pull it apart, and much smaller pieces, but I try to work the knife as much as possible for the videos. Thanks for watching!

I got this week and haven't really had a chance to put it through too many places but I like the fit and finish very much. The sheath is well made but the leather is a bit thin. I hope to get to it on the weekend.

I agree about the leather. I ended up wetting mine down, then put it in front of a heater to tighten it up a little

hey man, how is the edge holding up? Beavercraft doesn't really tell you what kind of steel it is, they only say "high carbon" haha. Thanks for the input

It holds up quite well, especially considering it's 1066. On par with BPS knives, and Condor's 1075. Thanks for watching!

I bought a beginner woodcarving set from Beavercraft and I love carving with most of the tools especially the scorp. I can't get the smallest carving knife sharp, but the others really cut different woods well and sharpen easily. Then I bought a 3 piece set of UJRamelson scorps that I just cannot stand to use. The handles are too fat, and the blades cut and sharpen poorly. For the price Beavercraft makes descent tools.

I'm planning to try some of their tools, and the other two knives, if I can find them

@@lheastridge Good to know, the video, it looks suspect the way its ground there, and there is not a lot of info on the website as far as specs. Not a lot of videos on this knofe as well. Thank you for the follow up!
@lheastridge
@lheastridge Жыл бұрын
My pleasure! I've been using it since the video, for the last 10 days. It's held up great so far. I've used it for wood processing, fatwood processing, daily farm tasks and the only negative I can see is the sheath. Once it's broken in( I wet it and sanded it to advance the process), it gets loose. I was able to tighten back up by wet forming it. The edge strength, and retention have been great. I'll do a follow up video in a couple months

Looking at an ottaza knife. Theyre made in Turkey though. 1095 steel and ambi scout carry. Amazon has them for under $50. You know of anyone with dealings of these knives?
@lheastridge
@lheastridge Жыл бұрын
I've seen them, but have no experience with them. I can tell you that Turkey produces some amazing firearms, so I wouldn't be opposed to trying one. I don't have any experience with middle eastern blades but, their neighbors to the north are known for great knives, so I imagine they have access to good steel. If you try it, let me know

Hi. I bailed early. Camera is good, stayed in focus. Sound is fine. If I may offer some constructive criticism, as an instructor in the fire service, your ideas and the things you’re trying to say are a bit all over the place. Try to form a plan of what you want to present in some kind of order. Jot it down in bullet point fashion and work off of that, say a white board or even just a piece of paper off screen. A lesson plan, so to speak. Your presentation will be way more organized as a result. When I started doing presentations, I had a similar issue and I eventually worked thru it that way. Hope this helps. If you feel like telling me to F off, that’s ok too. I like the BPS knives. Gonna get one soon. This looks very similar, probably will get one of these, as well. Thanks for bringing it to the attention of the knife community. And good luck with the channel. I’ll subscribe.
@lheastridge

I truly appreciate advice such as this. I've been considering doing exactly what you mentioned. When I first started the channel, my plan was a bullet script, but I strayed. I want my videos to be informative, relaxed and entertaining, like talking to a friend, but I've noticed some things that I forgot to mention in multiple videos. I'm going to do the bullet points for my next video, along with actually writing down the specs and creating a set order for presentation. I know this will help me speed up the process of producing my videos, which will allow me to produce more content. Thank you for your criticism, and thank you for watching. I hope you subscribe so you can watch my videos improve in production value as well as, quality of content, while my experience grows with the channel
