This is an awesome modification. I wish I had the balls to do mods on many of my knifes! Much respect.

Yeah, I am not sure if it started with me being ballsy or just my stupidity of not realizing how badly I could F**k my knife up. Luckily I have not F'ed one up,....yet. Thanks for stopping by Gruggs, always appreciate it.

Cool. Surprised the grooves didn’t help that much. Have a great day!

Yeah I was too. I figure the rounding of the scales and the palm swell addition added so much grip security the grooves were redundant.

Damnit man! Love that Blade! But that handle is screaming my name!!

Brother it was a brick when it arrived and only took about 30-40 minutes to round the edges and put in the pam swell. The cuts in the scales took about 15-20 seconds each. I was stunned how fast it went!

very nice knife fine video, a palm swell really helps, wonder why the have not stepped up their sheaths, take care

Yeah Ontario has decent knives but the sheaths suck. I mean for another $20 bucks and a kydex sheath they would still be a better value than their competitors.

Love your Mods! Not too big on them nylon sheaths. would be great if it was leather.

did some nice work man got that palm swell looking good and that aint that easy to do and i found to put the grooves in the handle you can use a metal file and itll cut the micarta no problem and is more controlled and you can use a round file for bigger grooves or like the shark tooth look or a triangle file to make thin straight lines
@charlesjonestherednecknerd

I meant to show the small file I used on them but forgot to. Man it taks like 15 seconds once you get them started! Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate it.

I like Scab, he's a cool dude and got his input on a few knives knives in the past. Jacob Beech is a another cool dude too and I highly suggest his channel, as well as Chris from Prepared Mind, all great very great, friendly guys. Great video by the way and I like what you said about making your knife truly your own. I hope you cherish that RTAKII because OKC is no more so getting another one might be difficult like it was for me but I got lucky where I am. I had the Jurosz Camp knife right when it came out. I didn't like it, the scales were uncomfortable and chopping was a pain, it didn't have real force when you went to go chopping with it, so I sold it. I got an RTAKII over a Junglas because I love the flexibility of 5160 over 1095 and 1095 doesn't fare well in extreme cold Canadian winter temperatures so I went with a 125th Anniversary Collector's Edition RTAKII that comes in a black leather sheath and high end 5160. I stripped the black coating and put a sharper edge on it. This knife is my favorite chopper and goes great with my Esee 6. I might balance this set up even more by getting a slightly smaller knife than my Esee 6 and see how that goes but I carry a medium sized knife to bridge the gap between a small and medium sized tasks with my Esee 6, and my RTAKII for larger tasks like chopping and clearing brush. Anything smaller I think I'll just carry a multitool for the added tools rather than carry just a folder. I've had years of experience with a vast assortment of knives from so many different knife companies and I'm very close to perfecting my set up. I stay away from the gimmick of super-steels and stick to knives that are easy to sharpen and I keep a ceramic honing rod to bring my knives back to sharpness without taking any steel off by actually sharpening them, this way my knives last far longer than before. Oh, and Kabar doesn't use wood handles, they used stacked leather handles.

Super steals can be good however like outdoor55 has shown their actual edge holding for everyday tasks while exceeding those of basic steals is not as great as the price difference is if its a reputable company with a good heat treat. Thanks for watching.
