A tour of the outside of our 2016 Winnebago View 24J model. Showing additional solar, diesel generator, 1 up bike rack, upgrades to the EMS, transfer switch, Maxxair fan and more. I have over 68 Mods on this motorhome. This is the last in a 3 part series showing them.

My first “subscribed” channel since owning an RV! All the others are fluff-you’re very informative and must be off-the-hook handy. I don’t even know where to start

Thanks for all your great videos! We also have a 2016 View and have learned a lot from your channel. Would you consider doing a mod that shows how to add a dimmer switch to the awning LED lights? We find the bluish LEDs way to bright at night. We did some research on adding the dimmer switch but chickened out after not fully understanding "high side" and "low side" dimmer switches and looking at the yellow and white wires coming into the existing rocker switch :)

We stripped "El Borrego", our 2008 View H, of all decals and badges leaving only The Borrego on the gril, in the first month after purchasel. A non-descript white box works well and stays cooler. At 15 years old I can imagine what the rig would look like with peeling decals and ghosting beneath. Generator fumes? Make your own Genturi as we did.

Hi Ron, love your channel. Was wondering if you thought about adding an outside grab bar to help getting up the steps? Any advise?

Hello Ron, great videos. Really enjoying them. Do you have a video of the electrical upgrade you did, as that transfer switch has me very interested. I have a 2019 view 24v (two twin beds that convert to King). I’m thinking of adding the transfer and the surge as you said you did in yours. I am also going to upgrade the Trik L Start (saw it on your other video). We just downsized from a 39’ Damon Astoria diesel pusher as I have medical issues and can’t always drive it, so needed something the wife was comfortable driving. I see these as minimums for our coach as we used to have a class C and because I didn’t have a trik l start my chassis battery was always dying. Don’t want to go down that road again as they say. If you have these videos please let me know. Keep up the great videos and happy camping.

Yes I have 2 auto transfer switches. One for genny and one for the inverter. I guess I should make an index of what is in each video. They are both covered in 2 different videos. Don’t remember for sure which, but I think the second one was when my inverter died. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnLRloagqpeqp80

BEWARE SURGE PROTECTORS UNDER BED/FURNITURE: The varistors inside, the actual components absorb the surge, often fail with huge fireworks leaving a hole in the device. I have seen this melt open a plastic, surge protected, power strip while spewing major sparks. Ignition source for dust, lint, pet hair etc. Metal housing helps greatly(do not buy plastic surge protected power strips, only metal housing), but realistically these things are not great inside, especially under a bed. Your videos are educational and good, I'm simply picking at specific bones. Thank you for your informative videos.

Thanks for your very informative video! I’m a newbie to RV’ing and didn’t understand your use of a “transfer switch” between generator and shorepower. How does it benefit you?
@ontheroadwithron2432

Instead of going out of the RV to plug in the power cord to the generator outlet when I want to use the Genny, this switch makes the transfer from shore power to Genny automatically. I never have to remember to plug in the genny. my power cord is just coiled up in the storage compartment.

Ok I see, in my RV (Coachmen, Orion) I don’t think I have to plug into the generator at all. At least I wasn’t shown that procedure. Maybe it’s something I missed . . . Thanks again!

Hello Ron. Big fan and looking for a similar rv In the near future. A friend of mine has one just like yours but with propane gen set. How did you use your gen set to power the house in the event of power loss? Does yours have an external outlet or did you use a double male cord set, one end in the plug of the RV outlet and the other end into an outlet in the house! A cheater cord. A bit risky but useable in an emergency. Many tks for your input.

On the Road with Ron Tks Ron, but to make sure you plugged the one end into an outlet in the RV? Or does your generator have outlets built in to the main unit. Just want to make sure before I pass this on to him. Tks again. Great videos, learning a lot.

Yes, there are adapters. I haven't done it as my propane tank will last a couple months before I need to refill.

Yes, the propane exhaust is less offensive to me anyway. Funny, but the diesel engine doesn't smell at all. Too bad they couldn't route the genny exhaust thru all the emission stuff to clean it up.

Hello Ron or anyone else who can answer the following question. do you happen to know what type of plastic the rear bumper cover is? A friend has the same unit as you and has some minor damage on the right rear bumper right under the side marker light around the 7 minute mark of the video? There is a small 4 inch horizontal crack below the light and a 3 inch tear above the light that I’m wondering if we can repair from the inside and then repaint on the outside to take care of it. They want $4800 to replace the right side bumper , paint and install from Camping World. Crazy.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know you can buy bumper repair kits on Amazon. Have not used any my self. Also fiberglass repair might work good on inside. You got nothing to lose to try it.

Is the generator noisy using it while you sleep? It is right under the bed and would think it would be loud and could feel the vibrations.

Never tried to sleep when running it. Your right, it vibrates the floor, but actually I don't feel it in the bed with the memory foam. It's just too loud to sleep..

On the Road with Ron It would make it hard to boondock in the heat. Don’t know why they put it in the back when the bigger Class C has them in the front.

Billy Johnson my opinion is they are one of the best on the Sprinter chassis. Don’t now about other sizes. I found their engineering to be very god but workmanship only so so.
