Good vid mate. I’d love to do some rendering. I’m a self taught plasterer, decorator/multi trader by trade, but the amount of shoddy plastering I had to sort out while painting gave me the desire to learn. KZbin has literally taught me from scratch and 4 years on I’m the sole plasterer for 4 firms and plaster more than i paint. Rendering is next on the list to try and master

Been watching your vids for a couple of weeks, finally subscribed, was thinking of getting a new mixer as my old one is knackered but I rarely use it and it’s a massive heavy thing to be loading / unloading and storing, space is a premium and I never thought of using a whisk to do a sand & cement mix, I didn’t think it would handle it but it looks like it does a great job, also the whole open / closed thing was interesting, I don’t do a lot with wet trades myself but occasionally I take on small renovation jobs and this has been a very handy video, thank you 👍

Yes start from right if your right handed. And if you're trying to get a smooth finish then you need a polyurethane float. When sand and cement rendering each consecutive coat of render should be weaker in strength than the one it is going on top of .So for instance if the scratch coat is 3 sand to one cement then the next cost should be at least 4 sand to one cement.

@Onthetrowel

It's a good shout and in hindsight I could of done that in the bad areas. Remember though that unless you put eml in each coat it's only supporting the first half an inch scratch coat and after that your back to square one again. Could be something to consider before we topcoat that wall though mate so thankyou 🙂👍
