We make these videos to show those who may want to hire us that we do know what we are doing, so much so as to be transparent in the applications Via KZbin. Thus, all can depend on us for sound advice and workmanship.
Were using regular Portland stucco mixed with three times the sand per every one part stucco. For example, for every one hundred pounds of cement stucco, 300 pounds of sand are added to the mix.
Or, for smaller jobs, buy "Rapid Set Stucco" from Home Depot or Lowes.
It has the sand already in the box or bag. You add water and apply.
• Buckling stucco in fro... Buckling stucco in front of the home.
• Stucco buckling? Stucco buckling?
Thanks for watching.

I recommend you google “Plastering contractors” in your area. This may help you decide. This search may also bring up “Yelp.” Theirs is a paid subscription, so their reviews may be biased. This means that if you’re a paid subscriber, any negative reviews will be last or hidden, while if you’re not a member, negative reviews may be placed higher when inquiries are looked for. There’s nothing illegal with this method of advertising as it’s the way the world now operates. Or try Google, too, as they are not biased, and the reviews are at no charge. Hopefully, with the help of both review apps, you will find the best fit for your needs. If you’re still unsure, ask to view their completed jobs or repairs and, if possible, speak directly with their past clients. Best wishes, Kirk Giordano plastering.

Another banger😁 Keep it up fellas, thank you and your family for putting this content out. It is the kind of stuff I miss from older This Old House episodes. Youre the norm abrams of stucco😃. Is it the shifting of the house and sudden temperature changes that wreak the most havok on stucco? Or is the initial application of the stucco the biggest deciding factor on the durability? Thanks!
@StuccoPlastering
@StuccoPlastering Ай бұрын
Howdy Dinkly, in our area, the temperature does not play such a big part. Stucco is mainly affected by settling and vibrations, such as slamming large wooden front doors. There is much more to mention here. Thank you for the comment.

Hey Kirk. Thanks for all the great videos. I have a question for ya. I stuccoed a cmu wall in our back yard this weekend with an acrylic product. The color is a little too dark. How do I prep the wall so I can go over it with a lighter color? Im planning on using the same product just a lighter tint. Thanks bro!
@StuccoPlastering
@StuccoPlastering Ай бұрын
Howdy Matt a better solution is to use Stuc-o-flex’s Renew paint with the color you want, and simply roll it out. That would last as long as the acrylic itself. To prep any wall for an acrylic, you first use the primer associated with the acrylic finish, then apply the finish coat. Did you do this the first time? If not this may be why the color change? Cheers.

Hey Joe, no fiberglass mesh tape was necessary instead we pressure washed the wall and applied the blue bonding agent, this we did in the original video, Jason my son the camera guy and stucco contractor also decided not to include this as he tries to keep the videos as short as possible. However this being said one can see the heavy blue color on the surface prior to our application. I guess that depends on weather viewing on a phone versus a computer.

as a painter you need to prime or back roll the texture to fill in the raw stucco to the amount of the existing. This is where expertise comes in. determining the amount of "filled" texture. you may need heavy primer or just self priming paint. Sometimes you need to roll 2 coats. sometimes 1 coat. This depends on the product you are matching with. Some paints fill more than others. Most Home depot products will not get the correct match.....None of the Sherwin Williams will either. Dunn Edwards has some products that will work good and also Vista paint if available where you are works great.

Howdy Fishing Dude, year we got beat up on the removal and killed to much suction, thus we would have benefited by a scratch coat then taking a 30 minute break. But nooooo, we kept going and lost a bucket full, the stuff we were using had to be chucked as it can’t be reused. Shit happens, good news them boys are so strong they can carry buckets all day long.😉

Are there different stuccos for different purposes such as finishing/texture coat vs base or scratch coat? Ive noticed some stucco feels smooth while others feel like they have more sand/grit

You've said a very smooth finish will eventually form cracks, does that hold true even if you use very high-strength cement (CTS Rapid Set) with Sika fortifier/bonding agent mixed in? You da man Kirk! 👍
@StuccoPlastering
@StuccoPlastering Ай бұрын
Hello complicated long drawn out question. If you steal trowel stucco, that sort of seals it, however when it gets saturated with say days let alone months of rain, the dam or so called levy will break. The stucco will expand then drain the moister causing lots of cracks. Kind of like putting a bootle of beer in a freezer. On the flip side if you sponge or hard rubber float stucco this compacts it or brings out the aggregate, this action actually opens the Portland cement so it can breathe. Thus when it gets rained on it allows the water to seep out freely. This is easy for me to understand, now if I could understand algebra or other languages I’d be set.😉

I had one. I didn't finish the story in the video. I juiced with the electric one. It had an orange top. This top got chucked in the garbage with the ends, as the dammed top was camouflaged. So, a week later, it was squeeze the old way or no juice. I had a hard time thinking what the hell was wrong with both of my wrists for about five days until I looked at the hand juicer and figured it out. Things that make you go hmmmm.
