Great job highlighting good etiquette and catch and release. Very important topics these days with the state of the fishery and the impact of social media on a place like the CCC.

Roy!!!! Thats a good dude right there... Ive run into Roy Leyva at multiple venues over the yrs from the trout ponds of Plymouth to the canal. Always quick with a smile, and quick to offer me some kind of advice to advance my knowledge. I gotta say its pretty cool to see him on OTW bc I knew him long before he got where he is today. I learned the old cast-a-bubble technique from him for picky trout at a tiny 1.5 acre trout pond in Norwell. To this day, one of my go to techniques. Thx Roy

Got my first ❤from OTW for this comment, but i couldn't help myself from editing it bc it had some juvenile mistakes in the grammar.... I didn't want to sound like a hack, so I edited it slightly..... I lost my ❤in the process.. 😥 Still, you guys at OTW are my heroes and I appreciate it nonetheless.... tight lines and screaming drags boys..... see yall on the water

If you don't know the guy DO NOT STAND 8' AWAY FROM HIM, ESPICALLY DOWN CURRENT. Last year I get on the rocks at 1am. For a 5am turn. At 430am 6 amigos show up 4 stand 10 feet from me, down current and the other 2 are 8 feet up current from me. I turn to the guy closest to me and I say , I'm going to hit you. He looks at me and says are you threatening me? I said, I'm using an 11 foot rod and you're standing 8 feet from me, I'm not threatening you, basic math is. Is not that the crowds suck , it's lack of respect .

For many decades I’ve witnessed many dear from both sides at change of seasons. A good sportsman could double his yield with the right equipment .Add a Remington to your tackle box. And a couple hundred in fines.

I have a love-hate relationship with the canal. I love the ditch because I’ve caught some really high-quality fish there. I hate it with a passion because I have left at least a couple hundred pounds of jigs on the bottom. I think if you combine my losses with the losses of everyone else there must be hundreds of tons of lead down the bottom. Riddle me this though? how are you able to use live tasty tinker mackerel? You can’t be throwing a Sabiki although it might work but IDK. Did I miss you guys dragging a live well around with you. I have to imagine fish all day.

I thought this was about fishing the Cape Cod Canal, not two guys repeatedly saying "Nice fish, Steve" or "Nice fish, Kevin." I fished that canal years ago as a young kid, following none of the precious little "advice" they offered - and I caught fish. In fact, if you put bait (even worms) in the water, it's almost impossible to not catch fish.

Yea etiquette and giving people space is everything especially with the current and please practice catch and release if we want to keep this fishery going. Respect goes along way, and it seems it has been lost among fisherman 🎣🎣🎣

Mike Barbee- there's certain holes you can bounce sea worms, chunking not so much. Beaches on bay side at nite for sure though.

@OnTheWaterMedia5 жыл бұрын
Thanks we appreciate it! It was definitely insanity there more than a couple times. We're hoping anglers, especially people new to canal fishing, take the pointers seriously which hopefully should prevent etiquette issues down the line. 🤞
