Enjoyed your video and seeing some fish caught has given me hope this river may one day return to its glory. I've fished the Deerfield beginning 30 years ago starting when I was 15 years old and remember countless days of beautiful rainbows brought to the net in the 15-17 inch range being the norm in the early and mid 90's. I've recently brought my son, who is now 15, up to the Deerfield in hopes of having similar days. Unfortunately, it seems the fishing is no longer anything even close to what it was. We've fished the river hard several times, different sections and pools, low water, good water, high water and have not even seen a fish. We fished intrepidly, and tried everything from nymphs to streamers and nill, nothing. Pools where I would have bet my life there were fish, held not one sign of any type of fish. I know you mentioned the hurricane in the video, so is that the reason the fishing has become so poor? Sadly, my son doesn't want to go back there, and I somewhat sympathize and grieve thinking the Deerfield is an old girlfriend that I will never be able to have the same relationship with again. As with relationships, rivers change. :-(
