With the podcast and all the teaser footage this was definitely the most anticipated episode of the shows history... and it delivered. Great watch. I'm glad that you showed the full and true experience of fishing with Dom. My buddies and I still tell the stories from when we fished with him a decade ago.

Captains can yell, most don’t mean harm it’s just an intense situation sometimes. Dom is hilarious seems like one of the best charter captains to ever do it

I worked deck on sportfish boats. Fortunately I worked with a bunch of good captains. No yelling no screaming, act like you have done it before. Save the yelling for when the fish is on deck.

Exactly. Just seeing the fish and being in such a beautiful place is reward enough. Landing the fish is just a bonus.

Great fishery. Been fishing bluefin out of the OBX for quite a few years now since I bought a boat capable. We do it very similarly but there are some things I'll be trying. We tend to go no lighter than 130lb hollow. I fish narrow Daiwa Saltiga star drags when jigging. I'm a big lever drag guy but the star drag on big tuna creates a little more range of drag pressure. Rarely do we go lower than 400g and knife jigs, at least on my boat, tend to catch the most fish. One thing I've learned at the end of a fight is to use the boat to help you. Did a long range tuna trip out of San Diego and they use the motion of the boat to perfection. Cool video.

what did captain mean when he said you have to come across your body and not point the rod at the fish?
@OnTheWaterMedia Жыл бұрын
Keep the rod bent to keep the maximum pressure on the fish.

Honestly no, not as a jigging reel. Its better for trolling or bait fishing

They are acid wrapped rods - helps balance on center. Basically turns conventional rods to feel balanced like a spinning rod. Doesn't want to turn over like a traditional conventional rod does under load.
@PacRam619 Жыл бұрын
Though it's a single assist hook, it looks like its fairly string, Like a 4x. That will take more than a few days to rust out, and what if the fish inhaled the jig? If it's in his gills or or guts that fish may not make it. But impressive watching such big fish being taken on light tackle.

love to jump in the water when hes half way up with a speargun and stone him. Tunas so burnt out and has so much adrenaline in him he would taste like a flat tire. I'm an hour away, wish it was legal off the coast. Honestly, jealous. Really good fights. Good footage. Bettahh accents

He’s yelling because he’s trying to help them catch the fish, it’s intense and he needs them to react right away. If you are looking for a cap to say yes sir and no sir to paying customers I suggest you book a cruise.
