So when you crochet in the ribbons, you use the same stitch twice? The stitches the trtr, and the back bar of the trtr?

Yes we work the stitches in the main color and then when we join our new color of yarn to make the ribbon we work into the loops we left free from the rounds before. @@oombawkadesigncrochet I know it's more aesthetically pleasing but is there any reason the other rows cant be done in just regular double crochet, without the front and back bar ribbing?

@@LiviaWinchester I did one hat first using regular stitches without the added texture and it didn't look very good. The heaviness of the ribbon section really stood out like it was on top of the fabric rather than part of the fabric. and the hat was more 'open' so it didn't give the look I wanted to cover the scalp of the head. You could see between the stitches to the head. Hope this makes sense :) Rhondda

Rhondda, teen size again? r6-10 you have 10 for both child & teen, but then the rest of the dec rnds, theyre # 11-14, 12-15, etc...so is r6-10 for teen be 6 rnds not 5? thx

Hi Cindy, No for the adult small (teen) it is only the 6-10. The difference in hat height is .25 inches between the child and teen sizes, so if I added an additional round it would be too long. Hope this helps, Rhondda

+Oombawka Design hey Rhondda....its just the way its numbered on the pattern is confusing! makes it seem like an error was made in it. i wound up frogging and taking it out, just following the child numbering, not teen/sm adult couple days ago :-) thx

+Oombawka Design yes Rhondda i worked it out thank you! :-) was just letting you know i thought that the r6-10(10,11,12), had an error. im pretty good at figuring things out craft wise lol, not life wise!! :-) i had to adjust also due to the fact my yarn was 4wt not 3wt. i do lovevthe design and WILL be making more of these. this 1st one is in memory of my middle sister :'(

well not sure whats up, but for teen i have 16/16 trtr/5sp, NOT 32!?

Hi Cindy! I'm updating that now - it should be 16 ch5sp. I mixed myself up with the 16/16 and 32 too! There is one ch5sp between each set of ribbons (rather than between each set of Trtr). Thank you for noticing and for letting me know! Best, Rhondda

+Oombawka Design lol, if i woulda read it right, i would nit have frogged lol! thats why i posted 2nd comment...i realized 2 legs of trtr so that was right just sp was wrong...it was letting you know i messed up too lol! :-) i really love the ribbon design btw! plan on making several and keeping this as a go to hat! thanks for the pattern Rhondda AND the video...would not have been able to figure it out with pattern/pics! this one i needed a vid visual!! :-)
