I legit learned about The Monkey Maternal Depravation Experiment in an undergraduate biology course. The creepiest part of this unit was when my professor asked if this was ever performed on humans. The answer was technically yes because humans in overcrowded orphanages as a result of war often exhibited very similar symptoms. It’s crazy.

I had to learn about this too as part of my intro to neuroscience class, this and the cat experiment studying how vision works had me jacked up emotionally for days
@prettyevil6662000
@prettyevil6662000 3 ай бұрын
It wasn't just crowded orphanages. In some countries it was believed that it was the best way to raise the orphans in order to stop them from being clingy. Basically they thought the babies giving up on crying for help was a sign the babies were adjusting well instead of a sign they were developing a longterm mental health issue.

Its honestly refreshing to hear about your panic attacks Oomp. Not that I'm happy you had them, but because it lets me know I'm not going crazy. I started having the most insane panic attacks 3 years ago and it was a looong journey to fight my way out of tbem. And in doing so I got diagnosed with PVC = Premature ventricular contractions. Thankfully I kinda know what to do now

@ambersather7460 And it 100% is all in your head. Like I won't say all the weird, disturbing, completely unnecessary things I would have horrible panic attacks about, for fear it'd create new ones for you, like it has happened to me a few times. But truthfully I think you're on the right path, reminding yourself it's not real, that won't happen, that's not you, this is all in my head, is great because it's true and it really helps not feeding into those useless thoughts. Sorry hope this helps! Stay strong it will get better!

Each day you face the challenge of depression, and even though you might not realize it, you're building remarkable mental strength. Remember, the journey isn't solely about conquering depression; it's about embracing life alongside it. With time, things do improve. Don't keep your emotions locked away - let them out. The most empowering thing you can do is to unapologetically be yourself. You've got the resilience within you to overcome, to adapt, and to thrive.

Great content. I once experienced the syndrome mentioned around the 6:00 mark (Kapfgrass sp?) for a few hours post seizure and your description is fantastic - I'd asked my Mum to bake a cake in thanks for friends who had given first aid after a major seizure. She came round with it and looked/sounded/dressed/acted exactly like my Mum but had an overwhelming gut feeling they were an imposter so refused to let them in the house - thankfully only lasted a few hours and never happened again but would be horrifying to live with and especially hard for their families.

I believe that monkey study had another part as well, where the moneys had another surrogate mother which didnt provide any food, water, etc. But it was soft and warm instead of being cold metal wire and they found the monkeys spent a lot more time with this surrogate mother even though it didnt actually provide anything necessary. Might not be remembering excatly right, studied it a while ago.

I remember that study too! A horrifically unethical study, but it showed how mothers provide comfort, not just sustenance. Babies don’t grow attached to their mothers just because of food, it’s also for the cuddles and warmth and safety.

hello! i am studying psychology and the experiment of the little monkeys was a lesson that i was taught. it hurt to see the experiments happen since they were caught on video, but the amount of studies that i had that class with believed that they could leave their children’s alone, that they should mature on their own because if they could do it, so could their infant. sadly this common knowledge of taking care of your child and being present in their lives is not a common thing that people know, and expect their kids to be tough on their own, it shocked me that an experience this cruel would have to be the only thing that showed the studies studding this class that negligence to this extent like that wasn’t know and had to be shown to half of a class. this world must know that one should always treat their children with care and respect, and make sure to be with them every step of the way

Fun fact about Koro: it is one of the only "hysteria" disorders that affects all cultures around the world because almost all cultures have a significant meaning around the male genitalia. Any male from any background can experience it. This is rare because a lot of "hysteria" disorders are specific to regions of the world and what is happening in that region such as war, epidemic, drought, etc..

I'm glad that even though I was suffering from depression I wasn't a victim to the "whale challenge" they even put out an announcement at my high school telling students to not participate and kept a close eye on every student who was "at risk"

4:00 - psychosis is terrifying in general. a lot of time these kinds of delusions don't manifest alone - they often come with more delusions that feed into each other and haunt you at the same time. it's not necessarily that something looks _wrong_ or _off_ about a person, it doesn't even need to involve their appearance at all. it's just the conclusion you reach after you've been drowning for months or years in a tangled mess of delusion. maybe they were abducted and replaced by aliens, maybe they were murdered and you're seeing their spirit, or maybe they were never your loved ones to begin with because they were government plants the whole time. it's the destination of grueling and nightmarish train of thought that can _only make sense to you._ psychosis can't be reasoned with, you can't just talk someone down from that precipice because - just as nothing _they_ say makes any sense to _you_ - nothing _you_ say will make sense to _them._ they experience a completely different reality. words can't express how exasperating and isolating it feels to try and explain what you're going through to lucid people, even professionals. the awkward stares and borderline condescending displays of concern are _perfectly_ reasonable from an outside perspective, but it's scary and humiliating all the same.

The conet project is annoyingly hard but i think it is pretty easy to discover with languges, numbers and morse code as well as music because songs can also carry hiden messages such as numbers and reversals :3 ! And the numbers could also correlate to letters that are mixed up using a letter mixer ( forgot what its called ) and another language of secrets ( WHICH CAN BE USED AS SOUND! ) this makes everything thats mixed up together hard to figure out but its possible if we learn more about the past or we study it non stop! ty for reading ^_^

I've had nightmares about This Man before I'd ever seen pictures of him anywhere online. He followed me, chased me down the street and I woke up unable to move. It was almost like sleep paralysis it was that horrific and traumatic. As much as I hate him and seeing his face creeps me out and makes me incredibly uncomfortable, this phenomenon is fascinating to me.

I've been watching you for a couple years now. I've always loved deep dive vids, but I also enjoyed your funny content. It depended on my mood. Now that you're doing deep dives it's like the best of both worlds!! Please do long content like this, it's so easy to fall asleep too. I'm in the hospital (2 month stay after a c-section then complications from said surgery) so content like this keeps me sane.

I love the “This Man” thing. I remember when that first started getting passed around. But I thought it had already been explained as some kind of publicity stunt or marketing experiment? I could be wrong, I can’t really remember, but wherever it came from, it has definitely caused This Man to manifest in my dreams and I hate it every time. 😂

The monkey maternal deprivation experiment is extra interesting to me personally, as I had an experience similar to those monkeys! My mom was (is) very emotionally closed off and abusive as I grew up. I ended up suffering with trichotillomania as a teenager, which is the repeated and obsessive pulling out of one's own hair. I wasn't able to stop until years after leaving. I also engaged in a lot of self harm behaviors like cutting and burning myself and other high risk behaviors. Would be an interesting correlation to bring up if I were to ever talk to her again and address the way she treated me.

The conet project recordings triggered something in me where I'm irrationally terrified that there's some sort of paranormal spirit creature that wants to hurt me in some way. This used to happen to me whenever I was home alone as a kid. I'm going to bed and I can't turn the lights off because I'm too scared. I don't think I've ever heard anything so creepy, and I forgot how unpleasant real fear was.

As a furry who joined the fandom around 2016, I didn't get to hear much about that particular convention until I saw the video done by The Internet Historian. I pretty much told myself that I would never act like that. It pained me to see and hear every detail. A few bad apples ruined the image of a MASSIVE group of people and now most conventions have rules against it. I'm talking if even it's aledged that something like that happened it could result in a perma ban from that con and all other cons affiliated with it

I had some form of Capgras Syndrome as a child. My Mum had severe mental illnesses, and back in the 80's they just said it was 'manic depression.' But clearly not, she's all the way mentally ill with many things and had many treatments and diagnoses over the decades since. It means my mother would be very cruel and unpredictable, some of it was illness, some of it was straight up abusive though. Every day I didn't know what I'd get, what was ok the day before was suddenly a grave sin the next day. Etc. As a very young child, age 5 and for a few years after. Up to maybe age 8-10 I fully believed that one day she's walk into my room, pull off her face and underneath that she'd be a complete stranger.
