Thank you. I have the Karu 12 and was contemplating the 16 because it looked nice (I know 🙄). However thanks to your video showing just how much bigger the 16 is, I’ve decided to stick with the 12. It does make great pizzas and I’m a convert to the gas attachment although I’ll still use the coconut briquettes you recommended 😊. Keep the videos coming, they are a great source of info and help.

I understand the temptation it's a great oven but your pizza will be just as delicious cooked on the Karu12! I'm glad my videos have helped you 👍

Absolutely love your review. Knowing how small and portable the 12 is makes it a no brainer for an apartment dweller like myself. Easy to hide away, easy to set up outside.

The grizzler plate fits in the Karu 12 just fine. I have a 12 that I use with wood and sometimes gas. I have the original and the new version 2 of the gas attachment. Long story. Anyway I cook everything from meats to veggies in my 12. I appreciate the size of the 16 but for me could not justify such a huge price gap. Huge!!! Maybe if I saw it in person. Thanks for side by side.

Thanks for the video! I wanted to ask if the gas attachment from the Karu 12 fit on the Karu 16? Maybe not a snug fit but it looks like it could work?

would also like to know the answer to this, it looks like it could work @TomVoyageuk what you think?

Thanks for the great question guys, and its an interesting one, because i had to go out to the garage to check the answer! So weirdly the Karu 16 and 12 bolts are the same width, so it does fit physically, but the problem is that the burners on the 16 are long, and reach into the oven, where as the 12 are short so won't reach very far in. this will be a problem because you're not going to get the flame to reach into the oven to properly cook the pizza. It also kind of fits awkwardly too, like its too small for the gap. i would just stick to the correct gas burner for the karu 16 and spend the extra £10

@@TomVoyageuk Thanks for going to the garage and test out this theory! Super appreciate it. For me it was more about upgrading from the 12 to the 16 and whether it was really necessary to buy the gas attachment again but seems like it's needed if you want a perfect bake. Cheers! 🙌

No problem happy to help! I was supprised actually as I thought that the Karu16 gas attachment would be much bigger!

Great video thanks. I've used a koda 12 and a koda 16 (both gas). I just purchased a Karu 16 and am excited to try using woodfire. I am interested in how the larger size fuel basket and larger overall oven size affects it's ability to reach a high temperature (900 degree faranheit / 480 celsius ideally) and maintain that temperature after making multiple pizzas. Any experience with this? I don't mind waiting longer initially for it to heat up, but am I correct in assuming the Karu 16 can get hotter and / or maintain that temperature easier?
@TomVoyageuk2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks for the comment, both the Karu 12 & 16 get to about the same temps, as the larger oven takes more fuel to keep the larger area hotter. One thing i would say though is its hard to keep the karu 16 going with wood only, i find it much more consistent to use charcoal base, and bits of wood on top to keep the oven temps steady.

I would love to know what cart you are using for the pizza ovens!

It’s called an Keter Unity XL! Great for the Ooni ovens, apart from the Koda 16, it’s too big

hey, Tom! I have used the dough for your pizza dough that is called "Pizza Dough I use For Ooni" it turned out not so good because it tore up and couldn't hold its shape the dough also rose very quickly. can you please do a demonstration on how to make good pizza dough because it's the only thing I cant do correctly?

You make it sound as you can't cook in the karu 12 or use the grizzler dual sided pan in it..I cook steaks in a grizzler on my 12 all the time....their pans are made to fit in all of their ovens.
@TomVoyageuk2 жыл бұрын
Apologies if thats how it came across, the cast iron cookware will definitely fit in the Karu/Koda 12 models, but my point was you have the freedom to cook more foods in the larger ovens.

Hi Tom. What's the best peel to use? Wood, perforated or or plain? Cheers

Hello! My go to peel is the perforated one 👍

If you are cooking with wood charcoal do you get the BBQ smell wafting around the garden

Would it be good for bread also ?
@TomVoyageuk2 жыл бұрын
Flats breads in the 12 as it’s more shallow, but the 16 would be great for bread as it’s more roomy! Just remember you’ll have to turn the bread pan a few times for an even cook as the heat source is all from the back.
