Nothing yet! I talked to one of my old engineers there and they have some hints but I couldn’t break him 😂. We’ll have to wait and see!

The circle on the bottom looks like it could be for a rotating stone? Maybe the plug is for control?

@@nathanturner8114 a rotating stone add on accessory might work there (and may explain the circle, could also just be a circle) but even if that was the case I can’t imagine running the control wires in the oven for that. It looks identical to the thermocouple connector on Karu 16. If I had to guess, there’s an imbedded thermocouple somewhere in the oven and that’s how you read the temp. Now what that would be for… we’ll we’ll just have to wait. I hope a digital thermometer!

What do you think about the transition from fully stainless steal to powdercoated steel? A Karu 12 will probably still shine after 20 years, while with the 12G I have seen first spots of rust near the fuel opening.

Hey Jens! Pros and cons to both. The stainless was nice but would patina and needed to be riveted together and is a little more difficult to form. The mild steel allows for the addition of hidden fasteners, more formability, and more coating options. I get why they went with the powder coated mild steel option, might have for kept price down too

Having worked at Ooni, very curious if you would pick the Karu 16 or Karu 12G? We are undecided … tempted by the 12G for fuel (wood/charcoal) efficiency, lower price and portability. But the Karu 16 size - bigger pizzas when entertaining - and digital thermometer on the front … 💭🍕

You’ve nailed the selling points perfectly! You can’t go wrong with either! Karu 16 is nice just because the size is so much larger. 12-16 doesn’t seem like a huge jump, but it’s really a lot more room!

I'm a little biased as I was the Head of Engineering at Ooni, but truthfully I'd take the Karu 12G for the multi fuel option. If you're going only gas, save the money and get a Koda
