Why do you use cavalry so much? I'm still learning warfare and I usually just use the units with the most attack strength, which is usually melee units. My invasion forces are usually just a bunch of melee and ranged units, with a few siege units to speed things up. Do cavalry units have better promotions or something? I'm still getting used to Civ 6 combat after playing so much CIv 5

Not potato, but I like cavalry because they've got such great mobility. Excellent for scorched earth raiding too because they can get a promo that allows pillaging for 1 movement point (instead of the default 3) Edit: the pillaging only applies to units with the "Light Cavalry" promotion tree (horsemen, cavalry, helicopters ... and Gathering Storm adds 1 light cav unit in between horsemen and cavalry that I don't know the name of off the top of my head even though Potato uses them a lot in this video ... it's either curassier or courser) so if you were specifically referencing the "Cavalry" unit then my answer doesn't need that explanation, but if you were referencing "cavalry" in a general sense, then know that there's a difference between heavy cavalry units and light cavalry units

Sometimes it also depends on whether you have iron or horses in the early game. Also, faction unique units matter.

Cavalry move very fast and don't have very many weaknesses and tend to come at timings where you can exploit weakness in the AI because of their combat strength vs ranged units like Archers, Crossbows etc. Which are the primary units the AI uses.

When I am attacking a city in the midgame, the AI always go for my Bombards first. Two shots and they are usually done. Don't know how to protect them until you get a balloon to allow them to shoot from three tiles away.

Hey Potato, just binging this series and it's really fun and informative for me, wanting to get better at the higher levels. Just a question - you mention grievances a fair bit and wanting to avoid them. I might be missing something but my understanding is the only effect of having grievances against you is that other civs dislike you more, but since you're planning to be at war with and kill everyone anyway, does that actually matter? Is there actually a drawback to having grievances in a domination game?
