Do you sometimes crack the spine of a book too? 😱😏
@abby651953 жыл бұрын
No, I even cried once because my friend who borrowed it broke it. It was a limited book. There are only 1000 copies of that book.😭

I usually don't crack the book spines on purpose, but I'm okay with it, if it naturally happens during the reading process. The only thing I don't like about it is when the pages start to fall of because of the broken spine. :-(

Cracked spines give books sooo much more character! Just like tabbing or writing in them. Some books are meant to show the life they have lived!

I actually used to love broken spines when I was younger and still have some that have broken spines, but I don't do it anymore! I actually can't sell the books to my local used shop if the spines are too broken.

Aww as a daughter of a book binder, I'm not one to break a spine😅 If it's for a hardcover book, I usually carefully fold each page one by one from the outside in to 'loosen' the glue on the spine 📖 😆 Yay for Evelyn Hugo! I am going to listen to the audiobook soon for a re-read too😸

I write in my books 📚 and after I while the if it’s a paperback the spine of book will crack and I hold with it. It also shows how much you love the book if the spine is cracked and the dogged eared and written in. 💜💜💜Awesome video!💜💜💜

That spine cracking hurt a bit 😅 I don't crack my book's spines, but sometimes while reading some creasing is unavoidable. However, I don't mind second hand books that have cracked spines and other signs of usage, like some writing or yellow pages, I find it always interesting to think about the "previous life" of those books! Wow, your voting ballots are something else 😮 Also, your next weekly reading vlog will be the 100th!!!! 🥳👏 Hope you have a lovely week 🌻

I love a broken spine! I actually like to see a book with a bit of wear as I think that book has been read and reread and enjoyed. The only pristine books on my shelves are the ones I haven’t read yet. I could never read one of those tiny paperbacks without breaking the spine haha

You cracking the spines is so cathartic for me. I rarely do it with my books because it hurts my soul, but I always want to, so I'm living vicariously through you haha

On the one hand a cracked spine means it has been loved but on the other hand a non-cracked spine looks so good on the shelves (and can be sold secondhand better - which I do with books I didn’t like) . I’ve watched tutorials on how to crack your spines friendly so they won’t show and I put it into practice and still my book cracked 😕but ooh well I guess it’s well-loved now ☺️
@finonna61743 жыл бұрын
I'm very gentle with my books so I don't brake the spine intentionally. Sometimes it just happens and I think wear and tear is a sign of a well loved book that has had life of it's own.

yes yes yes to broken spines! I get why people are so precious with their books, but isn't the whole point of reading and enjoying something to really do that, no matter how that affects the book? I say break spines, annotate, dog ear -- all of it! It shows you've loved it :D

I'm the type of person to buy a second copy of a book I absolutely love, just to keep it pristine. But only if I really, really love it. And then I'll have a reading copy to absolutely read to pieces. And yeah, the ballots just keep getting bigger and bigger, right? I had trouble folding it as well. Not as much as you did, though. That was a struggle 😂. Plus, the tables are not big enough anymore to hold the ballot. They really need to cut down on parties.
