Does the Procaster sound completely different when positioned properly?
@agambhasin4 жыл бұрын
Yes it does! And it sounds better!
@eduardoaalvarado2 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course
@And-c7n3 жыл бұрын
BTW you don’t push the pop filler all the way on. You leave a small air gap at the end to help disperse the pop sound. If you look at the NTUSB there is the grill then an air gap then the mic. This gives the air somewhere to go (disperse) after hitting the filter.

Thanks for the update. I use an NT1 as a condenser and the Procaster as my dynamic. I saw the original and had a chuckle…. The acronym RTFM came to mind… but you did good…. And yes… the Rode positioning dot is misleading on the end address mics…. Makes huge sense on the side address…. You guys made good lemonade!

Technically both...you'd probably want to add a stream deck as well at some point if it's for live.

I got a used (nearly new) Procaster. Thought my Presonus Revelator IO24 could drive it without a preamp, I had to turn up gain to 58db to get a decent level near -15db but it pick up lot of plosives than.

well thats excatly what it is. I use twitch alot and EVERY SINGLE STREAMER uses it and they use it so wrong... they keep it 10 ft away and the quality is fucking terrible and the amount of clipping is insane lol. hype really sells well. people who know nothing about mics will buy it because that other streamer and youtuber has it.

I agree it's "hyped" but it's actually a good mic.

Well done on making a follow up. It is great to see guys that can admit and correct their mistakes. Not everybody knows everything. You need to know which direction the internal capsule is facing. A simple rule of thumb (although there can be exceptions) A condenser mic, such as the NT USB, are side facing. That is you talk/sing/play into the side of the mic. Dynamic mics are (as you say in the vid) end address, such as the SM7B. That is you talk directly into the top of the mic. AS you move off axis, away from the top, the sound will alter. This is mainly down to the polar pattern (Cardioid or Super Cardioid). It is not necassarily wrong to talk across the top of a dynamic mic where plosives are an issue and you do not have a pop filter to hand. It is a common technique but like everything needs to be learned and perfected.

XLR quality I think I like the Procaster better. I do like the functionality and options of the MV7. Procaster will have more available accessories too. I think my answer would be circumstantial and budgetary.

7:04 Nah, the PSA1 Mic Arm, for example, is just overhyped, I mean, just buy a cheap one, and there's honestly not much of a difference, whereby the latter is even better, cause a cheap one could still hold a heavy mic like the King Bee II, whereas the Rode one can't hold a light one.

Thanks! Yea, you really have to get used to using any new mic at first, in my experience.
@HrWisch20 күн бұрын
My answer may be a little late, but you can place the mic a little sideways pointing towards your mouth. That way, most of your breath doesn't hit the mic directly. You can also try an external pop filter in front of the mic. There's a fitting, small one from Rode. It takes a little trial and error to find the optimal positioning of a mic like the Procaster. But if done right, I really like its sound profile. I found a shop selling them for 80 € earlier this year. I bought two of them (and two Broadcasters for 140 € each). Best microphone deal of my life. While it has decent gain for a dynamic, I still use it with a Fet Amp (Cloudlifter, FetHead, Mic Link, etc.) and have minimal noise.

I think it's great to own up to making a mistake... now try doing it without several minutes of justification for the mistake that *you* made. Also do it without the rationalization for why it wasn't really that big a mistake. Just say you did it wrong. Explain the right way to use the mic. Explain that if you had done the right thing and read the literature you would not have screwed it up so it's 100% your error. This video is almost a textbook for how not to apologize and how not to accept responsibility.

@@HeyCMH I don't agree with the way this commenter said it, but the point (s)he's making is pretty on the nose. I clicked on this video because you said "updated review," so I expected just that, a review. This didn't feel like a comprehensive review. I loved the video quality, the transitions, most of the music/audio/sound effects, but definitely check out podcastage and some of the other channels that review microphones; this was far from what I'd consider a review of the product especially considering if you were misusing it in your previous video, it wouldn't encourage me to go click on the last video even if you had included a more comprehensive review previously. Just talking from a content creator standpoint. Good luck with your KZbin journey and hope this constructive feedback helps!
