I too have had many locos that have problems with Hornby and Peco standard points. I found that if I removed part of the point of the plastic frog, with a modelling knife, the locos fell off less. You don't need to remove much, it seems the flanges on the modern finer scaled wheels are the issue and they try to run on either side of the frog.

A very interesting loco. Strange all the little peccadillos. Nice book that comes with it. It seems to have very thorough instructions..

Wish I'd watched this video before I unpacked mine. took about two hours to find the filler cap that pinged off when I unpacked it. Not had any of the other quality issues with mine though, mind you it didn't have as far to travel.

Yeah those filler caps are quite difficult to find. Ever since the problems I had finding parts off the Heljan Class 14, I've started to unpack locos in a large white plastic container before I go put them on the layout. Then at least I know if missing parts are in my house or were never shipped! I've noticed that Hattons do a fantastic job with packing on larger boxes, but single items seem to only get a thin layer of bubble wrap... The Class 76 from Olivia's Trains is the only item that I've had suffer badly due to the transit, and even that wasn't too terrible, goes with the territory living this far from the UK :)

A small point but any chance of your excellent videos having more light on the subjects please?
@Oorail10 жыл бұрын
Part of the problem is the video effect I put on the videos, it tends to darken it slightly. I haven't had too many people complain about it though, I'll see if I can improve the lighting though...

Does the model have deep flanges ? I use US code 83 track and many European models will not run on that rail size.
@Oorail5 жыл бұрын
They are pretty standard, no different than other Heljan steam locos or Bachmann ones. If you give me a couple of hours, I can dig out the caliper and measure it exactly for you, if that helps.
@klbird5 жыл бұрын
@@Oorail No need to measure. Your explanation is fine. The Bachmann flanges on my BR engines work fine on code 83.

A very cheaply built model where it was built to a price not up to a high standard considering how much it cost at the time.

I've been 3D printing a lot of enhancements for it and other locos over the past few months. Been super busy with non railway stuff but looking forward to being able to put some time back into the hobby over the next few months.

That does not look weathered at all in any point or any spot the locomotive a couple of Brush Strokes of some whitish grey paint does not count
@Oorail5 жыл бұрын
Eh what are you going on about? It's heavily factory weathered? Might be the lighting, this is a very old video, before I added better lighting in the basement. Check out the video on the new section of the layout.
