Thanks for the great video!!! I think here it is so clear that the Analog Rytm is the most inspiring and great for experimental. Syntakt is most compact and complete, although perhaps inferior sounding (which one can fix in studio while mixing) and it has few tricks up his own sleeve. Machinedrum is just a classic... sounds great and that grittiness reminds me quite a bit of the Erica LXR-02! Super useful comparison💜

If you, just like me, don't like the Analog Rytm form factor, just replace your AR mk2 by MK1, it has the same form factor than Machinedrum and you will save money as well. And This one was the one I have been expecting for a long time, I don't like the form factor and the pads neither, and was really surprised and glad to see that the best parts from Analog Rytm have been put in the Syntakt (the analog bass drums), and I am unable to get what AR can do that Syntakt wouldn't: Dual VCO is here, I like more control-all than "perfs" so... You would have liked that you made a pattern on the three machines, and then reproduce it on both others, it would be fun to hear Syntakt and AR try to imitate the MD.

Is machine drum the best as far as sound quality and the variety of drum sounds? I wonder why Electron discontinued The machine drum. How does Analog Rytm MK2 compares to The machine drum?
@OoraMusic Жыл бұрын
It is not the best in my opinion. It has his own sound . It might be the best depending on your workflow, but you need to remember that the sequencer in it is really less versatile than the one in the Rytm or Syntakt. Also I feel the letters have more sound versatility .

Wonderful, so much potential. Question for all! What other Elektron machine is closest to MD if any? I wish Electron would reissue Machiedrum, same FM audio engiene and resolution, 12bit, improved sequencer, improved effect and improved audio engine all in a box same size as syntax and around the same price.. The price for a used MD on eBay is close to twice the price of what it used to sell for.

I’m a bit confused about the Syntakt vs RYTM comparison.. is it possible to match them up?? You had so much stuff going on there - overdrive and the compressor.. all I want to know is how well can the Syntakt match up with the RYTM with its basic machine. Also, are the overdrives different? The Syntakt manual says analog overdrive. Is it a different analog overdrive? I wish I had both machines to compare them right now - just BDHD on each, SDHD on each, etc etc. Is it possible to just do a quick comparison showing exactly what is the real difference of these basic analog machines. (Also, how close the like digital machines are to the Machinedrum equivalents in the EFM)
@OoraMusic2 жыл бұрын
The basic sounds are mostly the same, in fact im using more the Syntakt lately bc it has my favorite sounds from Rytm. The distortion is different to me.
@auxorion2 жыл бұрын
@@OoraMusic Thank you for confirming! I love the overdrive on my RYTM but I think the Syntakt may be the dream machine for me.. it has everything I use from RYTM and nothing I don’t use (I hate using samples on it, and really don’t like the Toms at all.) I’ve been looking to get a Model: Cycles too but don’t like the limitations. Then Syntakt comes around like an answer. (my RYTM is mk1 and always needing repair/service I’ve been wanting to replace/upgrade it -- issues with the drum pads, no matter how many times I've sent it into Elektron.. I'm starting to think the RYTM Mk1 drum pads just have a design flaw.. I press one pad and multiple pads trigger. been wanting to just upgrade, but if the Syntakt sounds as good as the RYTM with its analog machines and cymbal machines, I won't lose anything upgrading to the Syntakt, since I don't use samples... it's just this video made me think maybe the Syntakt sounds inferior somehow)

I believe the Rytm is on a stand. It’s a little bit hard to see, but the Syntakt audio cables are at the right edge of the Rytm, just underneath it.

Thanks. I love your videos.… i have 2 questions: I recently bought lxr-2 and I’m thinking about replacing it with syntakt. You’ve used both. Which would say excels at being just a drum machine? Also, the sequencing of external gear with syntakt is a consideration of mine. I already have a few sequencers (OXI-one, squid, torso, five12 vector, NDLR) that I constantly switch between, some more than others. You’ve used a few of these. Does syntackt bring anything new to the sequencing table? Not necessarily feature wise but more like interaction and performance wise. I’ve never used an elektron product before. I appreciate any insight.
@OoraMusic2 жыл бұрын
if you don't have any Elektron sequencers I'd say is great to have one. I love them. Syntakt would be more powerful than the lxr, even tho the lxr have a very particular sound.
@finspire86322 жыл бұрын
@@OoraMusic Great video love the sound, so inspiring! What you are saying here, I think this particular sound you refer too makes the LXR-02 a true modern classic! It is a bargain for the price, cause it is just simply very different... and you can ''mellow it down'' buy running it through the Syntakt's audio ins and use analog drive and filter -envelope -lfo... :-). Analog Rytm is truly a strong piece as well, perhaps even better than Syntakt, hard to decide, there are pros and cons to both
@finspire86322 жыл бұрын
I would strongly suggest , if I may, that you keep the LXR-02 and add the Syntakt... LXR-02 is so unique nothing like it... bit quirky to sound design and operate, but oh boy it delivers!

Thanks for the video! I'm thinking I'd love to sell my digitakt and get an analog rytm at some point I'm not really liking the form factor of the digitakt, and I think I want something more focussed on drums for my setup. A mix of sampled and synthesised sounds ideal for me. Sometimes deciding on samples to load onto the unit feels like a chore and synthesising is more fun.. however there's some magic that can be had from layering a sample with a synth layer or resampling something you've made, or for taking tracks made in your daw and creating live arrangements.. And a Roland tr8s (Not because it's the smartest drum machine, but, I have one on loan and just can't beat the performance mixer layout and share number of parts it has!) I wish there was an elektron box with 12 parts of synth and sample based Stereo sample support Loop slicing And a mixer layout! Some kind of analog rytm / tr8s / octatrack hybrid? But maybe I just need to use a computer for that? 🤣

The RYTM is an excellent step up from the DT in terms of percussion. I’ve only got a Mk1 so keep the DT for sampling duty. None of these boxes does everything with enough tracks so you do need a few of them 😀👍

Always thought 2x four mk1 and a digitakt can make a good machinedrum:p i believe machinedrum is not a drum machine is a self contained modular groovebox. Rytm on the other hand that thing is build with one thing in mind. Dirty saturated compressed delicious drums. Syntakt had it 2 weeks sold it. That thing gets out of sync all the time even standalone. And the sound is meh. The tr8s kills it my humble opinion. But for the experimental mind i think syntakt has its way there in a setup.
