How can we make a simple outfit feel cool?
Simple doesn’t have to mean boring - sometimes it’s the little styling tweaks that make the biggest impact. It might be that we swap a trainer for a more interesting shoe, play around with colour and layering, or just add those accessories that bring us joy - it all adds up to create a cooler, more elevated final look.
And if in doubt, a soupçon of sparkle is never a bad idea…

Dear Trinny YOU ARE FABULOUS & I LOVE watching you as I am your vintage & a creative writer living in QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA with my 2 babies (my cats). I grew up buying vintage clothing to wear to Uni & I still buy vintage from our charity Op Shops as I LOVE leopard print & COLOR. Also helps charity but I find FABULOUS stuff for our home too. It’s just one of those rules handed down by the aristocracy over the last century or two. No diamonds during the day (a lady does not glitter before dark). No hats after dark. No mixed metals. Etc etc. There are all sorts of hidden rules of polite society and one has to be in the know…

I don't think ALL trainers look dated or frumpy per se, but the very chunky or 'dad' look (the purposefully 'ugly' sneakers) I always found difficult to style unless you're tall, thin &/ or young. Flatforms are a good middle ground but still a 'trendy' classic. Lower profile trainers seem to be gaining traction now - fashion trends are cyclical, after all. I just don't know if heeled clogs/ mules are the answer, though? Since the 'Indie Sleaze' of the late noughties/ early 2010s is meant to be the next big thing, I'm looking forward to low-profile loafers & Oxfords coming back into style soon. TL:DR; Even without heels, stylish flat options do exist beyond trainers!

@@01poppyblue never been a fan of trainers. I spend a lot on footwear; comfort is my first consideration. At 75, staples in summer are Meohistos. Winter are UGGs or Donald Pliner.

looks great, sadly my feet want trainers or loafers these days. Carrying the laptop around demands comfort. I think heels are the best and the most feminine, but I just can't do it on the daily commute anymore.
