The Boc patches are dead on. The Everything you do is a balloon patch was the best recreation I’ve ever heard. Cheers!
@NickHchaos2 жыл бұрын
There is something in the phasing there that doesn’t sound quite right. But I would say the same for 99.9% of IDM “recreations” I’ve ever heard for the simple reason that these artists did not create these songs in this way-they ended up finding the exact “right” tone, filter, tape settings etc. that fit the melody and beats they were going for-so if you don’t nail all those variables exactly, you will not capture the feeling for those settings that just ended up *incidentally* with those values because the one thing fits the other.

@@NickHchaos I've done recreations on my channel where I sometimes get close but it's fun to have something recognizable though not perfect inside the OP to mess with.

Awesome! Are you still using the OP-1 field?
@Digiphex8 ай бұрын
I sold it. The synths are primitive and it lacks the basics that are in a groovebox like the MC-707. I liked the tape sim but hopefully the new Torso S4 will have a good tape sim.

I got a question I can’t seem to find the answer to: does volume drop when you record into tape ? When I record drum sequences ( within the op1 field ) the “tape” recording of it is quieter . So doing this live would be a turn off. Is that normal ?
@bwest6275 Жыл бұрын
Maybe related to your recording volume level - you can adjust this with the red encoder. The recording level is displayed as the vertical red line to the right side of the tape screen. Or perhaps your track volume is turned down. Go to your mixer and check the level. Max is 99.

Your tutorials are valuable. I 'm a T.E. novice but 30 years of experience with DAWs going back to an EII with Dr.T's running on anAtari 1040st to current fare. I only mention this to illustrate where my head is regarding file systems. Is there no way to save my self-created samples under SAMPLER where the factory samples live? Same with synths. If I created a synth, I'd love to be able to file it where it belongs in the "DIMENSION" folder on the unit. If this is not possible, do you agree with this workflow - of all user created instruments being in SNAPSHOTS? Im still only a few days in and while I have an arsenal of studio synths, this is my first T.E. product, and synth of it's size :). Thanks for what you do!
@Digiphex2 жыл бұрын
It keeps what you create separate from the original presets and they stay in their original state. They show up alphabetically in Snapshot so you could put a certain letter such as D for Dimension in front of the category and it would order them in there for you. Or you could use something more useful, a B for bass, L for lead, P for pad.

@Digiphex2 жыл бұрын
Yes, many are. They are labeled in the video what they are. Yeah, actually all are .aiff though they are "synth patches" or "sample synth" snapshots.
@joshk21812 жыл бұрын
Do you have samples for other devices?

These are .aiff so they would work as plain samples. However a few of them use effects and LFO of the OP-1.

TEENAGE ENGINEERING OP-1 is the most selfish capitalist electronics in the world in terms of price and show-off. But for that we are careful to ecocology, but very much waiting for the dough. Greed equal to the destruction of today's world of values that leads us all to war. Some get rich, the rest die for food.
@Digiphex2 жыл бұрын
I wish it was Capitalist, but it's not. It is a bunch of Socialist, maybe Marxist, Swedish people that made it. But when you say "selfish capitalist" that means a perfect economic system where we are delivered exactly what we want and everyone's standard of living rises. Selfish capitalist is the motivation of the Western Europeans that invented everything good in your life. Do you go to the baker telling him you are hungry? No, you go to him with something to trade for bread and you shut up about altruism. Do you go to the shoemaker on your knees and show him your bruised feet from your old shoes, no you go with money or something to trade for shoes and shut up about altruism. You appeal to the "selfish" motives of the baker and shoemaker. You need to think this out better. Please read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.
