I love it, I want one so badly and I want the new one even more. But it’s a ridiculous price man. It just is. And the new one at 2 grand is absolutely disgusting. It doesn’t feel like paying a premium for an exclusive bit of gear made from diamonds, its overpriced because they can. It’s beautifully crafted and a powerful piece of equipment but whatever way you look at it they’re completely rinsing people and making it an elite toy very few can afford. Boo hiss boo. ✌🏻

I would compare working on the OP-1 to doing effects in-camera as opposed to using photoshop. Yeah, you have to do things on the spot, and often in real-time, but it leads to results that feel less sterile that when you use all the tools in a DAW. It's good to get out of the world of on-grid perfection sometimes. Thanks for the work, Jack.

For me, the OP-1 is the closest thing to a modern day Emu SP-1200. Not just because of how it degrades and mangles sound through digital aliasing, but more importantly, in how it’s apparently frustrating limits force you to think and create in a way that a DAW can’t. I love the SP-1200 for that, and am quickly growing to appreciate my OP-1 field in the same way. These things will be coveted in 20 years time in much the same way too I recon.

Until the new one comes.. TE products are great until a rev2 comes.. nasty habit of TE is destroying the resale of their own products time and time again.
@StudioMagnetique2 жыл бұрын
@@wurlinnawurl The OP-1 (OG) is 10 years old. I don't think releasing the Field after 10yrs ruins the resale value of anything. It also doesn't affect what I said above. Both units are still very unique in both their sound and their workflow. I get the prince thing, and people feeling that the Field is expensive, but I also don't see many other manufacturers being held to account on the resale value of a 10yrs old product, or any product for that matter.To be fair, I only have the OB4 and the OP-1 Field, so haven't been a TE customer for long enough to feel the pinch. I await an update or two for the Field (as they promised it would be an evolving platform) but I'm in no rush and as long as the products last, I don't see how a new version of either of those should have a negative impact on my TE experience. We shall see though I guess.

@@StudioMagnetique it did though . They cost about a grand used until a week after the field came out, now you can find one for $600 all day.. so it did effect it.. for people who are rich its definitely a nice thing to play around with. But if you dont have infintite money, i think 2000 bucks for this is just crazy. Hmm, ... I like the sound of this little thing ... should be nice to make this with 61 or more keys for a real player experience and aftertouch of course 🙂 But, ... expensive in my opinion. On the technical side , a beautiful synth. For this price you should get 16 parts (focus on sequencing, songmode, setlist multiple songs) , lots of polyphony, real keys, a few line outs (at least 3 stereo), enough recording space ...😉, utopia 😄... in other words, expecting more playable hardware for live performances (professional) ... don't get me wrong here but this is my feeling, opinion about this synth.
