Just got my pop filter in the mail! Fits *perfectly*, doesn't move on its own but also is easy to put on/take off. Works *perfectly*, the difference in plosives (or lack thereof), is clear as night and day. It's aesthetic and sanded smooth to a lovely, lush touch. Tbh, for the effort you clearly put into it and the immediate improvement it made to the mic, had I paid double what I did, I still would be 100% happy with the purchase... So a big THANK YOU to you, Novak. You beautiful genius.

You have no idea how much I appreciate this. These things go out and that’s it. They’re gone. There’s no knowing if people are happy with them, or completely let down. I keep making and sending them because I know what they do, and how much they expand the capability of recording on the OP-1, but to actually hear it from someone else is “The sunshine on my heart for a thousand years”, so a BIG thanks for leaving this comment!

I got my own fretless bass last month and I've been eyeing the OP-1 field as a synth / drum machine / way to record. Just came across your channel, and I gotta say, this is super inspiring! Great work, man 😁
@NovakTheEnjoyer9 ай бұрын
Thanks dude!! My bass is fretless too! My buddy tore them out and filled the gaps with wood filler and I ended up with it and I’ve been playing it for years. Now it’s really a precision bass, lol. Fretless isn’t easy. I always feel like I can’t explain how much the OP-1 Field means to me, but then I have all these videos demonstrating just that. If the workflow resonates with you, then you will truly appreciate the fact that you get everything in one small place that you can take anywhere you go, whether it’s the couch in the living room, or on a road trip. And the way it directs you to create. Can’t praise it enough.

Beautiful work. Man, it’s inspiring to hear how beautifully mixed you were able to get this tune without leaving the op-1 environment. It’s a good thing this little gizmo is so much fun to play with. Thanks for setting the bar on what’s possible with this fantastic music making buddy. This is not to mention the excellent video production to boot. I love what you’re doing, my dude, and excited to see what comes next. Sorry if I missed it: how do I get my hands on that dead kitty?! I’m feeling the pain of the field mic being tough to work with!
@NovakTheEnjoyer Жыл бұрын
Yoooo!!! Thanks for the comment! Is not easy wrestling this thing into submission, but that’s what I’m learning most through the process. If I let it guide me and allow its strengths and limits to shape the music, it falls into place. The moment I start to push and pull because of some idea I want to manage, it becomes a heavier lift. I think intuition is the most important thing. Using your taste to hear when it’s doing something special and rolling with it. Enjoy the kitty! 🙏🏼
@TimCatching Жыл бұрын
@@NovakTheEnjoyer , haha! That’s a great way to put it. “Wrestling this thing into submission “ is accurate. It’s also what makes it so engaging. And yes, it definitely encourages using one’s ears to decide what’s working. Funny, it’s a fundamental rule to music production, as you no doubt are more aware than most, but paramount on this tricky gadget, as the dials and meters aren’t always being honest, or so it seems. Thanks again Novak, your efforts in pioneering the op-1 field frontier are most appreciated! Can’t wait for the kitty!

@NovakTheEnjoyer Жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for watching 😃 I’m not sure I follow but I would love to explain. Can you give me a little more detail? All of the sounds I record in like vocals, bass, and guitar, I hold record and press play. Once it starts recording I can let go and play what I need to. I think that’s what you mean. Also, there is some movie magic in here with parts I didn’t catch at the time of writing and recording. Trying to make a “good” song and a video that isn’t too boring at the same time is hard to balance so sometimes I have to fill in the blanks a little.
@todaisybyme Жыл бұрын
@@NovakTheEnjoyer I think I understand. I'm assuming you press record and just cut any of the dead air before you start playing. It makes sense haha. I got it. Thank you
@NovakTheEnjoyer Жыл бұрын
@@todaisybyme oh totally! I give myself a 4-count in if I have the room. Otherwise, I’ll do a take at the back of the track with a 4-count in and then lift and drop it into place. Afterwards I snip the silence off 💪🏼 You can also set a loop and start recording at the last few counts and start playing when it loops back around 😊. This doubles the tape noise though if I’m using the portastudio.

nice. 0:22 The one thing I hate about trying to this type of stuff on my op1 (even though I constantly and love doing it) is this friggin clipping sounds. drums hide it some, but ugh its so noticeable in drum breaks. was this all recorded with the line-in? or didd you use the USB in jack?
@NovakTheEnjoyer Жыл бұрын
Most of this stuff gets recorded in through the mic. I ignore the clicks and pops for now. I hear you though. None of this is taken too seriously. I’m sure eventually I’ll get back to the DAW for this kind of stuff, but I’m not in a rush. Having too much fun trying to make it happen on the OP1.

@NovakTheEnjoyer Жыл бұрын
Hey! I didn’t process this with any external equipment or program. I appreciate the feedback. The whole idea of the OP1F breaks my brain. It’s a super high quality happy accident machine with really limited resources. It’s so unfriendly for songwriting, but I keep going back to it, I think because it wasn’t designed with songwriting in mind. Or logic, for that matter, lol. But yeah, there are always a few things (like the hats) at the end of every project that stick out and leave me kicking myself. If they just added a few key things for producers, I really don’t think they’d jeopardize their coveted “limitations”.
@bvrbvs Жыл бұрын
