@@Kris-wo4pj But what separates this from normal kids acting up cause they're going through shit? There's this weird expectation lately that people are supposed to be absolutely perfect and perfectly mature from an early age... Like, no? That's not how being young works? It's funny how being a bully is cool and OK as long as you do it for social justice reasons, but horrible beyond imagination if you even so much as laugh or make jokes about another culture.

@@Emmanuel-ws3qo You mean something like the little brother "educating" his sister? How Ryker and his friends decided to punish his sister and how his sister had to write an essay on how it isn't OK to make fun of songs from other cultures? And when OP told him he couldn't punish his sister, he told his own parents to shut up and spent the rest of the evening in his room with his friends.

@@nehcrumfirst off, weird that your first comment was your response to someone saying “racism is bad, but so is destroying a racist’s property”. Second, while OP’s son should’ve been forced to apologize to his sister, and then been either grounded, or gotten some or his stuff taken away for what he did, her daughter deserved exactly what she got given the sheer amount of racist incidents she was responsible for. Third, feel free to suggest that OP’s son should’ve suffered a few repercussions for his actions, but leave it at that. Comparing Ryker being unpunished to his racist sister being severely punished, only serves a a negative reflection on you as a person, no matter how you slice it.

@@JoseRivera-te9hw It's not weird, it has to do with believing in something called justice, and that it applies equally to all people, regardless of race, religion, ideology or opinions. You, on the other hand, seem to have a lot in common with racists, thinking that certain people are apparently not deserving of equal justice based on something you dislike about them.

S2: why is your daughter going to the dance hanging out with her racist friends after she did the racist thing but he does 1 thing and boom. Like make it make sense. Bruh, you need to displine your daughter writing an essay and letting her keep hanging around racist friends isn't gonna fix it. it's probably the friends and you should have been calling the friends parents to figure out which kids parents is the racist that is flooding this in or it's your family that is. You ddin't take the first thing seriously and that's how the second thing blew up in your face.

Deliberately destroying the dress is pretty awful. Keeping home from the dance seems like an extremely apt punishment, and good parenting. The parents should take daughter's racism more seriously, but they didn't get the dress punishment wrong.

@@HeliosX28 It actually says nothing about racist slurs. It said "She used slurs and called Ryker a cry-baby". S2: Gianna should have been punished way harder, and for an indeterminate duration. Look at the world today. Is racism something to be tolerated now?
@AnimeGamer501st

Yes it is. I can't tell you how many times I had to defend white people because some jerk was being extremely racist to them and then was told "reverse racism" doesn't exist and white people can't experience racism and some jerks decided to try and reinvent the word racism with a new definition. I've also seen racism within the black community and a friend of mine even talked about it once how he wasn't dark enough. Truth be told the only time I've ever been called slurs was from people within the Mexican and Latino community both jokingly and not so jokingly. You would be surprised how often racism is excused because of some mental gymnastics that's not even coming from some guy in the backwoods of a yeehaw town. Not to mention people who aren't white are hired more often than people who are white because of their skin color. I was once a diversity higher. It destroyed me when I found out. Racism is alive and well and majority of it ain't from those that believe that certain people with certain skin color are inferior than certain people with a certain skin color, it's often used by people who say they're against racism.

I feel for parents that either become widows or go their separate ways while already having kids… BUT if they plan on remarrying they really need to make sure their kid gets along with their potential step parent’s kids. Forcing kids from broken families into pretending to be a big happy family is a recipe for disaster.

@dementedqueen4392
@dementedqueen4392 3 ай бұрын
Okay first off, the reason proper pronunciation is key in these stories is because the mispronunciation of a word, especially a proper name, can take you out of the story altogether. Gianna is does NOT rhyme with vagina! LOL. It's Gee-anna. Oh God. I could barely listen to the story. Second, of what I did hear, Gianna WAS being schooled and punished for what she had done. She would have even thought about being more empathetic toward others and accepting their differences. This had been the correct way toward achieving what the school had brought to the attention of OP and her husband. What Ryker had done had COMPLETELY destroyed any forward motion that had been being made! So now Gianna, who might have been taking a step forward, would now take 2 or 3 steps back. Ryker needed to be punished as well. Taking away his dance was the incorrect punishment. He needed to work off what the dress cost and explained how vandalism NEVER gets your point across. If he had done this when he's an adult, it could possibly mean jail time. I think everybody dropped the ball in story 2. This could have all been a great teaching moment but it all got shot to hell.

I disagree with comments in story 2 he did mess up and wad being punished, so was the daughter and they were trying to fix it but the son thought that ment he could do what he wants and should be able to over step the parents as they are still punishing her and correcting her
@jestersreign7530
@jestersreign7530 3 ай бұрын
I agree with the fact that he deserves to be punished and that he overstepped. I do believe he actually does have anger issues. But I do believe the parents were not doing enough for their daughter. It's one thing to try to fix it through teachable moments. But the update show does she doubled in triple down on what she thought about the comments she was making and made more of them. I'm glad they finally understood that they needed to give her real consequences. My family isn't exactly the strictest but I guarantee I at least get grounded if the teacher had to call home about my comments. Let alone if I double down on them when my parents talk to me later.

S2: probably gonna sound like an AH but I don't think Ryker did anything wrong in ruining that dress. the fact parents were stupid enough to punish him for standing up for what he believes in shows they will make excuses for anything she does wrong. what will they do when she commits a hate crime? will they ask the judge to not punish her? newsflash, if she is only 17 and already saying these kinds of things out loud, wait till she's older and starts throwing around the N word constantly for anything that goes wrong

I just have problems with people destroying other people's property. Gianna is a jerk and a racist that does not mean her brother has the right to destroy her property. I think Ryker got off free somewhat. Two wrongs don't make a right. If someone says something racist, will be ok for Ryker to lay hands on someone? Parents are weak overall.
