The white marker on the bottom is not in the center of the sequencer bar. I get the notes wrong 80% of the time. I feel like marking the keys to fix the design issue.

I knew the honeymoon phase would be wearing off by December/now for a lot of people. TE gear is fun for the first month or so (I still have the op-field after a year, but it’s not my favorite piece of gear) then, the regret starts creeping in fast. Been there too many times with their stuff. I love the honesty with this video. Everyone else are just shills or trying to be in good graces in the hopes that they get free gear from TE.

Form over function with the gray. Also the brain auto detect seems useless; thank goodness you can override it. But it does sound good! I’ll probably keep mine but TBH you can get something very similar in capability for 1/4 the price with the Polyend Tracker Mini.

Yeah I don’t know what they were thinking with the color scheme. The brain seems wrong most of the time for me. I actually had the mini and it is a really good device. I just don’t really like using trackers unfortunately.

Love this video, so many F bombs! Had to put headphones on after my son gave me a concerning look, lol. My son said "he sounds like our 75 year old neighbor that tells us to "get off his effing lawn!" Sorry you've had such a frustrating experience. I think color gradients are a choice they made. I'm assuming you saw them before buying, so you know what to expect? I quite like the colors and layout, it works with my brain and sense of colors and style, but respect, I know this is not for everyone. If it were, say $1,700, would be easier to justify all their decisions. But, in the end, that's what it is. It's their decision to design what they want, and it's a persons decision to decide if the design and function is right for them, based on the price :) For me, it is. Thanks for this vid though, It's good to get a thorough run through if the bugs you're finding!

Obviously I saw what it looked like before I bought it. I had concerns about the color scheme but I thought maybe it wouldn’t make much difference but I think it does. It doesn’t make this a bad device but it’s just a shame they valued form over function. They could have made the UX so much better with more colors, the knobs, even having more led colors on the keys like Elektron devices or even the op-z. But for some reason everything has to be this gradient. I just don’t get it.

The sequencer on the OP-Z is almost as good but the synth engines are very limited and can sound pretty cheesy but it’s not impossible to get good sounds.

MPC Live 2 is the best piece of gear I ever had. It’s a work horse and I’ve made complete albums with lyrics all in box. It’s honestly amazing.

Damn that's a shame you've had such an anger inspiring experience, it's ruined it for you! 😢 Sorry. I find it infuriating that their design alienates as much as I love it...I'm 3 weeks in and find it so easy to use as it works with my brain and logic (I love the UI and design and design choices too), but I totally see that (as in your case) it can be infuriating. Give it more time or return it for something that works for you

The new op-xy button-mechanism does look tricky , with a microscopic spring holding two latches together. I hope someone figures out how they work taking the buttons off and back on again. Others have said it has to be services by TE only because of the difficulty level , wich is a bummer at the least... Thnx for the info There's many cool renders going around . my preference goes to all black , not some poorly done "gradient". all black would still be visually more helpful.

@ I should say that it “might be the best groove box” I’ve used. I haven’t really had a 180. I’ve used other groove boxes like the Deluge, OP-Z and the M8. This is probably the best I’ve used but it is also way more expensive than any of them. I think the OP-Z has the best workflow out of any of them and I have been comparing the OP-XY to that.

I haven't found it to be buggy at all apart from some pretty minor things, and I've been using it a ton. Your emotional ranting about the color of the knobs also seems ridiculous to me because every parameter on the screen is laid out left to right 1-4, matching the left to right 1-4 knobs. It's not even remotely confusing and frankly it's much easier for me than the color scheme of the Op-1 because of color blindness. Some of your other points seem like you just haven't actually read the manual. I'm not a TE fanboy, I had the Op-1 which I thought was ok, and there are definitely some things I would like to see updated in the OP-XY firmware over time, but getting as upset over extremely minor things ("I don't like the color gradient of the keys, I think it should have been 4 keys dark grey, then 4 keys, less grey"etc.) is kinda weird.

That’s nice that you haven’t found any bugs yet. This is my experience with it. I’m not making it up. I have read the manual btw. You might think my rant is ridiculous but they had a really good design language with their other products that they ruined for no reason. If they want to say it’s for color blind people then fine. At least that would make sense but there’s no way in hell that’s why they did this.

You might not like some of the design choices, which is totally fine, but describing them as though they're absolute morons and no one could possibly like the way they did it is what I'm disagreeing with. I know I, and a lot of people, find it a lot easier and more intuitive to make music on this thing than on the Op-1. I guess I'm saying, as another commenter here did, chill out a little. You're losing your shit over "this key should be more blacker than the one over here! Fucking idiots!!"
