I'm 3rd generation dory fisherman. Well...woman. The first time I was taken out on the Dory I was only about a month old. Now a friend of the family runs ours but I am still out on the boat. It's an experience like none other though. My Dad's boat was the Triton S. I'm glad we're back out on the water.

This is such a beautiful story of a historical boat and an amazingly historical place that still exist at this time. Stay proud Pacific City. Please continue to spread the word of God’s special place. God Bless you all.

These boats have great beach landing capabilities. Perfect for flat sandy beaches. I think that the designs here are similar to the Spira built Offshore Anacapa Pacific Power Dory. Or a modified version to them. Regardless of the origin, these are great boats and best suited for this area. Great all-round video. It's captivating, this is my 5 time watching.

Good way to keep the barnacles from colonizing the bottoms of your boats.

I'm from NE North Carolina. I swear the dorys and the old English brogue are very similar to our Outer Banks, settled by ship wrecked folks since 1700. Wonder if some migrated to Oregon?

I saw one these boats at Cannon Beach about 15 years ago. Totally impressed and dumbfounded they could launch a boat right off the beach into the surf. Now I know the rest of the story.

Great stuff! I knew about dory boat fishing from a motherboat in the northeast and out of Gloucester, but not on the other coast. You can tell, that frame is going to wind up being a quality craft.

Wherever did the Marine Doug fir plywood come from ? As a boat builder myself finding Doug fir plywood now is impossible to fine and I even called Roseburg plywood then they said all the marine plywood is sent to the east coast.

I thought a dory was more of a rowboat, whaleboat or survival boat. Is there a difference in the names or spellings.

Decades ago they USED to have a few GREAT fish restaurants in this area, the last time I was there, about 2 decades ago, I could not find even one which served locally caught fish! SHAME!

That's unsustainable. Ban all co2 emission machinery/plastic/poly-fiber fabric unless used for reforestation, habitat restoration, and life threatening emergencies ~
