One small correction. At about 17:25 I say adding a front sway bar worsens oversteer. I meant to say understeer.

Nice Vid. Thx for your Opel efforts. I'm contemplating a GT Restomod. I have access to a decent GT with a blown engine.

Hey thanks for the video I learned a lot, maybe in upcoming videos you could explain everything under the hood. I like learning about these kinds of things just bought one so I would love to see more thanks!

Thank you! I plan on doing an engineering and design video for the Opel GT engine too! Keep your eyes open. I’m busy with college at the moment but I’m trying to find the time:)

hi great vid. so do you know what mods Conrero did to the f/r suspension to make their cars handle better. ?
@OpelPower4 жыл бұрын
shadmonk thank you! There was a lot that they did! I highly recommend the book “Opel GT Motorsport 1968-1975” by Maurice Van Sevecotte. I’d have to write a novel to even scratch the surface of this question!

@@OpelPower your car seems to handle great. I'm wondering for a road track day car are these mods adequate? sounds like a lot of work to do a Conrero type modifications then?! How would you improve yours further if you wanted to?

Is there any "upgrades" that help the Suspension? I'm getting ready to rebuild a 68-69 come Summer. Looking for all the tips I can get.
@OpelPower5 жыл бұрын
FallenAngel1930 yes! Get the 1” lowering leaf spring, this makes a huge difference. Get front and rear sway bars, Koni red shocks, and poly bushings front and rear. Unless you are doing competitive racing you’ll be completely satisfied with that setup. All these parts are available at Opel GT Source.

@@OpelPower Thank you for the Info. I really appreciate it. Are there any Rear End Swaps that work if I decide to go up to 2.4? Your Video Mentioned the Rear doesn't hold well with more HP if I heard right?
@OpelPower5 жыл бұрын
@@FallenAngel1930 You'll want to use the stock rear end with a 2.4L. You will have more chance of blowing it up than with a 1.9L, but that doesn't mean it will happen. Keep it full of oil. If you have a later style 1971+ axle you'll be in better shape. Tons of people have 2.4L with stock rear ends and do fine. If it were me I'd use the Quaife LSD that fits in the stock housing (with slight machining that any shop can do). This replaces the weak spider gears in the Diff

@@OpelPower I have a 72 Opel that needs Floors,and Motor. So, you are saying I can take the Rear, and Front end off of it then move it to the 68-69?
@OpelPower5 жыл бұрын
Yes the parts are interchangeable. You probably don’t have a 68. There were only 13 in the US or none and they are very special. Hand built and have a higher compression head. Yours is going to be a 69 GT
