Many Hillclimb cars are way beyond 600hp, some are well beyong 800hp at a relatively low weight. It's not a race track so jt's very dirty amd slippery. And these are privately build machines, so if you crash them, it's lost forever. There's no factory standing behind you ready to pump money into it incase you need it. It's often a single small workshop project.

Lt5 Zr1 engine from the 1990 c4 corvette are crossplane. Horsepower 405 at 5.800 RPM. I suspect Sound comes from an x-piping exhaust.

Albrecht Poller you’re right. Even though this one rev up to 8500 rpm, I’m fairly sure it has a cross plane crank rather than a flatplane one. Those kind of numbers are quite hard to achieve with a cross plane configuration but not impossible. Race cars such as v8 supercars can rev this high.

It's an LT5 out of a C4 Corvette ZR-1, designed by Lotus, built by Mercury Marine. It was the first DOHC engine ever used in a Corvette, and also powered the 1998 version of the Lotus Elise GT1 race car.
