Just found your manta video Dave I owned a 1980 cavalier 2000 GLS sports hatch when I was a 20years old I'm 55 now and wish I'd kept it !! I still keep a look out for a manta but most people ask crazy money for them now, Ive never tackled body work repair before but watching you makes it seem doable !! you've defiantly gained another subscriber👍

My dad had the manta gte with the dealer option pack the legend bill bilstein tuning kit gasflow heads big valves and the lowered suspension kit. it was rocket I'm 42 now I would love a nice manta

Great job again Dave! Nothing really phases you and you dont get into too much destruction and job scope creep. It would have been easy to take out the windscreen and a load of interior and be in it upto your neck in it, outside and at the whim of the weather. You really control whats happening with your projects, not them controling you. Most people (including me) can't successfully manage 2 car projects simultaneously. Loving the content!

Another great video Dave, just like the Escort, nice clear steps to make the structure solid again. Just watch the angle grinder and the windscreen - my screen is lie 20 grade sandpaper after some vigorous weld smoothing, dont think the wiper blades will last very long ! I'm just ahead of you with my Escort, got a lot of confidence and direction from your work to keep me going, but my boot floor is sound - looking forward to seeing you sort that, and the RHD wipers, pedal box fitting and column conversion (which I've just done).

Hi Gavin, I use CO2 as a shielding gas, my welder has infinite speed and power control, which is the real trick to nice welds, when welding thin sheet it is set at about 40% speed and power. Thicker stuff 60% ish. It’s a bit of a try it and see to be honest.

Generally what ever is closest to me 🤣, I used a thick cutting disc that time which helped me get into the corners better. I prefere to use a metal grinding disc mostly, but will use flap discs and 40 grit discs also.

Awkward spot to deal with Dave. You got the strength and shape back in it which is important. The Manta has a long heavy door and you can only imagine the metal fatigue on that "A" post and all its layers of metal. Just thinking there's nothing wrong with repairing a panel like that prior to removing it. You'll have the shape back in it and once you have it right if you wanted to pluck out the spot welds to get at the metal behind it afterwards. Just thinking out loud here. Love the videos and keep it up 👍

Old ford's and vauxhalls quality so they are if ye kanny get any red top 16 valve engine's use saab 2.0 turbo engine's its a gm engine anyhow fit the same good in corsa and nova's
