I wonder if my mates over in Oz know that Slim was well-known in Canada as well? I remember seeing him at our biggest blow-out, the annual Calgary Stampede Week. We had an incredibly similar legend in our country called Stompin' Tom Connors. The parallels of their personalities and careers are quite amazing. I hope Slim's looking down on us in a pub full of beer. A life well lived!

Ignoring his heritage for a moment, David certainly had/has the talent to have had a career as an Australian Country Music Singer. But he would always have been accused of trading on his father's career _(the moment's passed)_ and so you can't blame him for choosing to pursue medicine as his career.
