Open D Tuning - The D Major Scale, All Chords in D - Guitar Tutorial

Today we are going to look at the open D tuning. Once we are in the tuning we are going to look at the D major scale in the first position with two full octaves and then we are going to look at all the chords in the key of D. A lot of time these guitar tutorials in this tuning just show you how to play the barre chords on the 5th and 7th fret, this will show you all the chords in the key of D and their open shapes as well, including some inversions, so you can strum through your favorite songs with open D.
The way to practice this is to warm up with the scale and then try to play your favorite songs in the key of D with these chords shapes. Try to tranpose your favorite chord progressions into D and then play them with these shapes. Lastly try to fingerpicking these shapes and use the scale connect the chords in unique chord melody style of playing. Practice these for your foundation and you will be correcting some very cool music before we got to the next step.

13:23 you mention 4 55 6 which you are also playing. But the m7b5 chord is actually 4 55 7 (as shown in the diagram). Don’t want to be a smart ass but just saying… Thanks for the lesson! Keep on coming them open tuning lessons 🤘🏻🤘🏻
