I absolutely love limited slip differentials, and had one on my last car but now I don’t with my 135i. really miss it. (they also help you get better traction if you ever happen to be on some gravel or some snow. humorously I was able to get one from my wife’s Jeep really easy but it’s a fortune for a manual E 88.) Once the back end breaks loose though it is quicker then an open diff so you have to learn the feel of it.

Looks like there are different kinds of driving habits for this device. First Type: They want a LSD to do a bunch of drifting and doughnuts (i.e., things that a LSD is not really best suited to do). Second Type: They want to use the LSD to help accelerate out of corner and are not into drifting or doughnuts. My $0.015 worth, this device is more suited to those who are the Second Type of user.

This is the LSD conversion set designed to be smooth for everyday usage. Doesn't have too much preload, so it doesn't make chattering noise. For this amount of money (250ish eur), it is the best product in the world.

E85 uses L carrier unit paired with K-type bearings. Some sort of hybrid. But if you are choosing LSD conversion kit, then L would be the proper choice.

why would they even sell an rwd sports car with an open diff? Those where expensive cars back then. What a stupid way, to cut costs.

@@RacingDiffs you can kick it out. turn the wheel all the way left stationary rev it up let go of the clutch and start driving in a circle build speed then kick the clutch and counter steer the wheel its not easy to control because the diff is open but you can counter steer

are Wavetrac & Quaife have the same performance or one of them is better?
@muaythai1936 ай бұрын
Both are top from what I researched, and for normal drifting and spirited street driving the Q would be more than enough and much cheaper. If you track your car hard and have tire lift in corners, the WT would have the upper hand.

Do you still need to shorten the flanges by 4mm like with the older kits? or not necessary anymore? i have a 1992 e36 318i, guessing ill need the 168mm set?
@RacingDiffs11 ай бұрын
Yes, shortening is still necessary. But if you don't have access to the lathe machine, you can simply cut off 4mm with a hand grinder. And you're right, you need 168mm kit for your car.👍🏻

People this stupid thingy have destroyed too many differentials if you want LSD buy an LSD it cost around 1000-1500 €/$ because it's a complex system either clutch plated or mechanical (torsen) that should be a bit cheaper. Just look at the design there is a constant friction between the gears in your diff and these two metal pieces with a spring for $250... Look in china these were selling for $50 and I just laughed who would be so dumb to install it. Now there is a whole company and marketing built around this scam. Many people are ashamed to talk about their experience but there are a ton of videos on YT people present it as a working perfect thing and 2 months later they realise their diff is destroyed with all the metal pieces grinded out of their diff or gears broken locked the whole diff so it could be dangerous so if you have this installed and selling your car please don't lie it is an LSD cause someone can get killed.
