Open Heaven: If It Happened to Jesus, It Can Happen To You

Anytime a Christian pastor becomes the center of what a church is and does there is a large problem. After conversations with those close to the goings on at CRC London, anyone connected with this questionable organization should head for the hills. But, since I do not have first hand knowledge of what happens there, I will stick to critiquing the horrible preaching by Pastor Thabo and his topic of an open heaven.

It seems like way too many christians want just enough change to get things back to their comfort zone. No true repentance and confessing sins and turning from their wicked ways. No purifying their hearts and getting serious about Jesus commands in Matthew. About all His commands regarding mercy, forgiveness from the heart, sheltering the poor, letting go of pride, bitterness and grudges, mourning over sin, and so forth. Being meek and humble. Nope they don't think Jesus could possibly mean what He says and expect all that. Nope All they want is just enough to look good and feel comfortable and keep the status quo in their comfort zones and lukewarm churches. That is exactly what led to the whole mess in the first place. Luke warm lives and only superficial mental assent. Worshipping with the lips but not the hearts. Not surrendering all. Not obeying except when it's easy for us and requires no self sacrifice. And not sacrificing our will when we are tempted and tried. Not submitting expect when we find it easy and convenient. That is what led to the fall of society. People want to vote the lesser of two evils and hold signs and so forth because it's easier than God's way. Joel 2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: 2 chronicles 7 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I’ve planted a reformed Baptist church in Hampshire UK . I was born in Zimbabwe to Brit parents. It does make things uncomfortable witnessing as people mistake my accent for a South African one, where I live there are plenty charismatic churches and liberal churches. We stand alone please pray that God will reach the lost here, and they will find Him in scripture alone . Well done Brian keep exposing these wolves.

The thought that people believe and desire that whatever miraculous "gifts" (such as the dove descending on Jesus during His baptism, which was spoke about) God did for Jesus we deserve or even hope for is beyond me!! The fact that people think that being a believer or follower of Christ is like being in a country club and we deserve or are given gifts or benefits is also disgusting! Jesus was treated terribly. Paul was treated terribly. Where do they get the presumption that asking Jesus into your heart means God wants to make you rich, wise and powerful?? It makes me sick to my stomach!

Ironically, Thabo is short for "Lethabo" meaning "Happiness" or "Joy". It is a common name for South African men and women, like one of our former presidents, Thabo Mbeki. It is most used in seSotho, Setswana and Sepedi, related languages spoken in South Africa. It's a pity that the prosperity gospel travels at lightning speed over the globe... Even before modern communications, the ripple effect of the Azusa Street revival reached Africa's shores very quickly....

Crc is big here in South Africa. I visited twice in Pretoria...under duress lol...so fancy and At Boschoff doesn't allow the pastors of each branch to preach..he just streams in from wherever he is. And his theology is the worst.

I was years ago in one of his sermons in Pretoria. It was still in a tent, but the music was so loud, I've put tissue pieces in my ears, but later just went out. I've decided to never go to any of his churches wherever.

These pastors are real crafty, they know what they're doing. They're only going to cherry pick a few verses about tithing and robbing from God. But won't read whole chapters about tithing because it doesn't fit their view of getting people to give. The chapter of Malachi is referring to those who didn't set aside the portion of food that was to be given to the poor at the appointed time that God had set. Numbers references people who sold their produce and resources on the Sabbath instead of storing it as God told them to. It has absolutely nothing to do with money but these pricks know it.

The other night, I watched Andrew Lloyd Webber's _Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat._ It's a good show, entertaining, and generally faithful to the biblical account. Somewhat frustrating, though, because he makes the moral of the story, "follow your dreams, anyone can get a lucky break," rather than God's hand in, not only protecting Joseph, but saving all Egypt (and, incidentally, what would become all Israel). But thinking about it a little more, he probably didn't do any worse than the likes of Steven Furtick. Or, apparently, Thabo Marais.

These mega churches most common message is about money. Malachi 3:8-9 is the favorite passage of ministers with little faith. They manipulate the people instead of trusting the working of the Holy Spirit I the people whereby they have a cheerful heart and become cheerful giving out of Love towards God

I visited a new church were the pastor was speaking on the same subject. No joke, the whole teaching was about tithing and he referenced Malachi just like this British guy. Afterwards I studied all the verses in the Old testament about tithing and indeed it was all referenced for food and resources to be set aside to give to widows and orphans. No mention of money.

Thithes was Old Testamenties. It was for Israel and the tithes at that stage were tithes of their produce, etc. They give their tithes for the priests who worked at the temple. There are very good videos to watch about tithes. In the New testament is nothing about tithes. Jesus just said once to the Farisees they give tithes for things, he was not happy with it. After Jesus died for us, there is nothing about Israel's tithes anymore.
