We have an open house not an orientation. We do have a half day for kinder students to get used to the classroom. Should I go over what you stated for orientation within my open house as well? I have a remind account already

I do but its really simple. Its just a table where they sign their name next to the date they want. I am actually considering using sign up genius this year for Mystery Reader.

Do you let the parents just go through the papers or do you talk them through it? Also, at orientation do you have something that the students are doing while the parents are filling out the paperwork????? p.s. love your channel :)

Hi! I go through everything with the parents. Our reading specialist and tutor actually take all of the kindergartners on a tour of the school and read a book to them. That way they are not in the room while I’m talking to the parents

I am going to be teaching Kindergarten for the first time from Sept - June. I have some ideas for themes, however i'm curious to hear from all of your tips. Do you have any tips on what to do on the first week and month? Would you suggest focusing on building a classroom community in the first month, as opposed to content? Are there any themes that you absolutely adore? I'm open to tips on setting up a classroom, scheduling for the day, transitions from day one onward, building classroom community, wonderful pieces of literature etc.

The first month for me is about establishing relationships, routines, procedures and expectations. I do get into content during the first month but I really focus on those 4 things I listed.

No Im sorry I can't. One of my teammates made it. It is really simple to make you can make it on Microsoft word. It is just a table with numbers on it like they keypad they punch into at lunch.
