I believe this has always existed. The idea is to skim wealth any way possible. Example: Ukraine. We send money to the country and they send kickback money back to the few. This war and money laundering started in WW2 and became obvious in Vietnam. I assume this has been going on since the beginning of time. And today we see Blackrock buying BTC and shares in BTC mining companies. Once they own the majority of BTC they will manipulate the market for the same people. But, I believe it may not be possible as you say for them to control enough to manipulate it and "pretend" it is still decentralized. This fake freedom technique has been used often enough with the Pepsi Coke parties that I assume they will try that approach.

It doesn't matter how much BTC Blackrock or anyone else owns they will have no more influence over it than anyone else. Thats the beauty of proof of work and why proof of stake currencies are essentially the same as fiat.

As a resident of Ukraine, I can say with confidence that you are susceptible to Russian propaganda, your physical condition is not in danger of being destroyed on ethnic grounds, you cannot understand, thousands of kilometers away, what it’s like to live here with neighbors who are trying in every way to occupy you, and not agree to destroy you.
