When Injury Reserve dropped by MASS APPEAL HQ for an Open Space interview the other day, the pioneering Phoenix, Arizona hip hop trio took us all the way back to the days when they dropped their Live From The Dentist Office mixtape, and explained how the title is as literal as it gets.
When high school friends Stepa J. Groggs, Ritchie With a T, and producer Parker Corey first got together to make music, their recording conditions were less than ideal. With each member being far away from each other in crowded homes, they took over a storage room of Parker's uncle's dentist office. Over time they took over the lobby, and eventually, got their own space to work in. The music they made there won critical acclaim and they continued to build their rep withthe Floss LP, released last year as well as their hard-banging new project, Drive It Like It's Stolen which dropped last week.
Injury Reserve reveals that they don't believe in "guilty pleasures" and instead will attempt to frame anything they like or enjoy as a good thing. They used viral KZbin kid Bhad Bhabie as an example saying "I fuck with her and I know she's really bout her shit, cause she's just this little crazy white girl and she's said the n-word zero times. So, I'm like roger that, let's go. Go getcho paper."
Injury Reserve kicks off their Renaissance Tour on Friday, head to injuryreserve.online for tickets and more information.
