"Chicago cool," says Rico Recklezz. "It's a very lovely, destructive place-at the same time. It's kinda like a love/hate kinda city. They wanna praise you, they wanna kill you." The Chi-Town rapper responsible for mixtapes 'Recklezz Conduct' and 'Realer Than Words' stopped by MASS APPEAL HQ to talk about life in his city and the music it inspires. "It's all drill up here," says Rico. "Drill is the Chicago equivalent of gangsta rap. Just like in Atlanta they got trap music cause Atlanta is drug-based. Chicago is gun-based." Rico considers himself "the best drill rapper" but in his Open Space interview he says he's trying to leave that lifestyle behind. "I'm mature," he says. "I got kids I'm really taking care of. I can't be on the corner gang-banging no more." Check the latest edition of Open Space right now.
