This video is the first in a series of Open Stage Control tutorials where I talk you through how to create a control surface from scratch. The main focus of this series is how to recreate a Behringer BCF2000 in Open Stage Control.
In this first episode we go from downloading the software to creating a blank template and stylesheet, add in all the control widgets and we also make a start on the CSS styling.
Next episode will cover how I achieved the custom fader, button and text styling to match the real device and also how I handled the dynamic control positioning when resizing the host window.

Brilliant mate! Absolutely loving this. You're bring the knowledge of OSC whilst also making it look beautiful. Excellent touch with adding the Behringer BCF2000 look. Looking forwarded to the next video!

Thanks Mark. Appreciate the feedback. More to come soon on responsive layouts and also two way integration with the DAW.

@@themusicmack I look forward to the future tutorials. I would love to be able to build a control surface like Jono's control surface on vi control but that would take way to long to build, plus I don't have a 27inch touch monitor to use it on

Great! Nice project to explain OSC! Curious to see where this is going! The sound is better but there’s still the occasional distortion. You probably can get away with lower mic input level and then adjust it in post is it’s required! Keep it going!

Thanks Carlos. Going to cover the whole process to get to a fully styled and customised template. Might do a complete series where I recreate other famous controllers like Launchpad or Push maybe. And yeah, I'm still learning with the mic and video production etc. Thanks for sticking with me :)

@@themusicmack Hey Mack! For what I’m seeing in your latest two videos the mic issues are solved! I do think it’s a great idea using a template of real hardware that everybody knows as a guide for teaching OSC principles. Finishing this BCF project I would evaluate if hardware emulation is the best way to explore OSC. your approach will be limited to what’s possible in the hardware world, and OSC doesn’t need to be tied to those limitation. Dynamic layouts, deeper bi-directionality of communication between apps, etc are things that you will not explore continuing to reproduce hardware. Cheers and congratulations for the 4-0! ;-)
