Open Streets Hamilton takes over King Street East

The road closure for Open Streets Hamilton stretched from John Street to Gage Avenue welcoming people to walk and bike up and down the street.
King Street East was closed to car traffic from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm for the one-day event.
Families and friends could walk the stretch from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm to listen to live music and participate in family-friendly activities along the way at 5 different hubs.
This was the first time Open Streets ran on King Street East since the event began in Hamilton back in 2010. It ran on James Street North and Barton Street in the past.
Although some drivers said the road closure caused traffic delays and made it difficult to find parking, many welcomed the closure as a way for the community to come together.

Homeless, garbage, ppl yelling & talking to themselves, yeah walk on the street. Fun wow. I was at work so no walking for me. My morning wait at bus stop enough city action for me.
