Watching these videos when they came out really piqued my interest.. and I'm happy to say it became part of my collection a few weeks ago. Thank you for making the tutorial videos and this play through!

Nice unboxing as always! Thorough and conversational. As for the game, it looks like a winner so far, but the "massive" rulebook might throw some people off. Jeremy White has a certain "euro-gamey" style of writing manuals. A lot of pictures and spaces. I don't mind that at all (they're very cozy to read), but it does give the illusion of false complexity at cursory glance. Which can unfortunately sway potential buyers. :(

“A game I wasn’t going to get, but after watching a few videos....” I’m delighted to see you taking a dose of your own medicine! I own at least a dozen titles thanks to your videos, and my well-worn excuse to my wife (who knows who you are Roughie, and believes you’re public enemy number one) is “ I wasn’t going to buy this, but after watching Roughie’s videos....”.

Hi wrongtracksuit thanks as always for your kind comments and apologies to your wife! Don't hate me but after thinking it through along with supportive comments from subscribers (including the legendary wargame designer, Hermann Luttmann, who is an avid player of non-wargames), I've decided to post the occasional non-wargame video. It will still be under the title of 'Not a Wargame Wednesday' so at least you'll save money mid-week! 😉 As for 'Atlantic Chase' it IS unlike any other wargame I've played and even at this early stage I would recommend it. As you'll see when I get around to videoing the tutorials, each one tells you what rules you need to read. If you decide to get this, I don't think you'll be disappointed. 👍

Bgg notes it as 3.11 complexity which suggests once the rules are learnt it's fluid. I think I'll buy this one. I'm enjoying The Hunters and The Hunted immensely, next step, what goes on above. Cheers👍

Hi Bernard and thanks for the comment - I don't think you'll disappointed. If you haven't seen it yet, check out my live playthrough with 'The Blue Tweezers' where he teaches me the game (it's in my 'Live Game Play' playlist).

Good video of what seems to be a terrific game! I'll be ordering my copy on Thursday (payday) and I'm wondering where you purchased yours? Really looking forward to you playing this one mate! Thanks.

Hi Warriorking1963 thanks for watching and commenting. I got my copy from Second Chance Games but it looks like they are sold out!

Great unboxing, thank you! Are the advanced battle rules compatible with the solo missions also?
@RoughSwordsmanWargamer Жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, the only 'problem' is choosing 'Attitude' which is done in secret but easily overcome for solo play, I think.

Hi Rick, it may look that way but if I can understand it (the rule books are some of the best I've read), anyone can.

Was on the fence on this one but decided the game system was a bit to abstract for me.

Have you played it yet the fact that the and Scharnhorst (and the French Dunkerque) have the same gunnery power as the Nelson and Washington and outguns the Warspite and Hood suspends belief for me, surely that incentivizes the KM to attack RN ships which alters the dynamic of history
@RoughSwordsmanWargamer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ireton - thanks for commenting. No, I haven't had the chance to play it yet but I will certainly keep an eye out for any issues.

@@RoughSwordsmanWargamer On the board gamer geek, a poster called Joel has come up with a fix that is seamless in combat giving ships a gunpowder and armour rating on a simple table that can be downloaded, and you merely apply a + or - modifier to the gunnery values on the counter and puts things in its proper historical place and prevents Scharnhorst and Gneisenau hunting down the RN's 15-inch battleships and battlecruiser with little fear.

Like the King once said: Too many "pages" for me. (see what I did there?)
@RoughSwordsmanWargamer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Charles - yes I did! But don't let the 'perceived' amount of pages put you off. The rules and the other booklets are easy to read (and loads of pictures).
