Great video, Chris. I doubt I'll ever be able to afford one of those cool X models, but this could be a life-saver, but also points out that Tesla needs to do better in order for someone to exit in an emergency. In a panic situation, having to remove the speaker grill, fish around for a wire and pull it, then having to shove open the door like that simply takes too much precious time. Getting out shouldn't be a science project. I fear that in a fire, the rear passenger would be overcome by smoke before they could exit and a child would clearly have no chance at all. Tesla is SO GREAT at safety, this seems like a pretty glaring example of where improvement is needed. Cheers.

I think maybe it's so hard to manually lift the back doors even when they are unlatched that Tesla just assume in an emergency you would climb through to the front door.

Just chiming in here because I've owned the X for almost a month now. I had issues initially with the falcon wing doors shortly after delivery but Tesla fixed it really quick in two days and gave me a loaner during those days. I can say that after they fixed it, everything seems to be working great so far. I almost went through with delivery of the Y Performance but got the X instead and have no regrets. The Y is a better value though with so many incentives available on top of that, but I personally love the X's additional features such as the automatic doors, multiple screens, instrument panel, larger screen, larger size, falcon wing doors (when there are no issues with it), slightly better range and 0-60, air suspension, and overall the X is just a more premium experience. I think most people don't get the X because of the price but if price wasn't an issue, I definitely prefer the X. I thought of the Mercedes EQS after the X since it's similar pricing and the EQS is much more luxurious, but I think for EV, Tesla is the best at this point in time.

I love it! The only issue I can see is the falcon wing doors since it's so complicated. However after taking it in 3x's to fix the issue it's now fixed. So many awesome features with the X!

@@EverydayChris - Can't believe it took them 3 times to fix it. What was the issue, if you don't mind me asking? I've wanted a Model X ever since they came out, and am now eyeing a used one (2018), but those falcon wing doors seem to be all over the internet for causing significant problems. I've heard they don't close if you're parked on an incline. My driveway is inclined, so that would be pretty bad if I couldn't get the doors to close just because of that. And thanks for this video on how to manually escape a Tesla. Can't believe they made it that difficult, but good to know there's a solution, even if it is awkward.

My friend Angela Chao recently Died in a Model X because she couldn’t open a door - or a window - after the vehicle entered a pond. THE WINDOWS AND DOORS DID NOT OPEN! And she had 8 minutes to get out. Tesla is a terrible company with Shi-y engineering.

While that sucks to hear, teslas do have emergency latches in the front doors. Right next to the window switch

You cannot open the door once it’s even partly in the water - water pressure/weight will prevent anyone from opening it until the water inside is at the top of the car. Not to mention that by the time you remember and find the emergency latch, you’ll be dead anyway. Main issue was why the power windows failed. As soon as the car hit the water, electric windows failed. Teslas are GARBAGE.
