I recall a game (Operation Flaspoint?) where you could hide the bodies, they would just sink into the ground and disappear without trace. These ant hills are probably a placeholder for dead body here. A constant reminder of the bad thing you did... and a marker should you decide to go back for the loot.

You don't need to go to where your teammates are to loot the stuff, you just have to press the button that you used to assign them to loot (Q/E) and it brings up the loot window from any distance.

Splat did a stone age survival game a while back that also had followers. But they were a lot more independent and automated. I think they would take their own initiative to join in and do what the player, if the player gathers stones they also start gathering other nearby stones in imitation. The player didn't have to wait on them.

I tell ya, man, I quite enjoy the slightly longer playthroughs. I know the point is first apraisals, but showing a little more of it on the more complex titles seems a not terrible idea.

I miss his LP days. I think the last one he did was some zombie game, can't remember which, but it dragged on really long and by the end of it he was frustrated but didn't want to leave it unfinished. Really love his Project Zomboid runs, those are fun :D

Pretty sure you can just press the button for the teammate again and they'll loot, you don't have to walk over. They don't do it automatically because otherwise you'd keep being interrupted randomly by the looting modal while you're trying to do something else.
