With all the good potential, I’m skeptical. Jobs will be lost on a massive scale if affordable robots are available for rent or purchase that can replace humans. Just like today many cannot afford an electric car, it’s up front costs or maintenance, the poor will not be buying one. The robots will be for the rich, businesses, and government. My other concern is there’s no moral compass. With humans we have a soul and moral compass (the conscience). AI will not. If autonomous robots grow, who’s morality will it be given? And can that morality simply be dismissed?

Let's not overlook the fact that o3 was trained on 75% of the public ARC set. This is stated on the ARC website itself, for those who are curious. It would have failed spectacularly otherwise, whereas even a human child can solve those visual problems on their first encounter, with no prior training. And, even with all that pre-training, it still didn't get them all right. And, it wouldn't have met the ARC challenge, even if it had gotten 100% correct, because of the exorbitant compute cost to get the 87.5% score that it got.
@therainman7777Күн бұрын
You’re confused, but given how many people were saying something similar online I don’t blame you. To clarify: (1) o3 was trained on the _training_ dataset. That is literally the reason that dataset exists-to be trained on. This does not in any way invalidate the results. (2) The creators of the ARC-AGI benchmark, who were themselves very skeptical or LLMs and their ability to reason, or to ever reach AGI, administered the test themselves, in accordance with the exact rules of the ARC-AGI competition-which includes training on the training dataset. (3) People saying that o3 just “memorized” the correct answers by training on the training dataset are missing the fact that the _entire point_ of the ARC puzzles is that they _cannot be memorized._ The entire reason that Francois Chollet created the ARC-AGI benchmark was to create a test that models cannot prepare for in advance, because every single problem in the evaluation is completely novel, and does not contain ANY patterns or require ANY tactics that were present on any other problem. Again, this is the ENTIRE POINT of ARC-AGI. It was explicitly designed for this purpose. The reason the exam provides a training set is simply so that models can have some basic understanding of the format of the exam; the models are not able to learn actual techniques or patterns which they can then apply to the test set. Given how strict the test’s creators are about their, and given that they administered the test’s to o3 themselves, clearly the benchmark was passed as intended.
