@ yeah I think so too, but even that simple implementation wasn’t fully baked. Like when you clicked 4o task model there was no way to edit the task with the scheduling feature until after I already sent it and then clicked edit. Like the basic functionality wasn’t even correctly implemented. Just a tiny bit 10% more effort would’ve made it a cool roll out from jump. I’m sure it’s gonna be very cool ultimately, but just why not at least get that MVP of the feature done correctly I really don’t get it.

it's already monetised - I'm paying 4x what I do for Netflix or Disney. If they added ads on top of that. If everyone added ads, I'd run a model on cloud or locally, and either use an open source assistant framework, or create my own (not kidding). Same story with VR. Meta are probably going to try to push ads, and in the end I guess we'll end up using custom ROMs on VR headsets to avoid this shit

I know what you mean, but there is this: OpenAI tends to take a structured approach to features, so you may be seeing only tip of iceberg, with gradual evolve to additional features. RE apple and google calendars, you can access w/3rd parties such as Make, but I think only worth the effort if in conjunction with a custom automation. Meanwhile, upward, onward! LOL 😊

actually, do you use ChatGPT? I'm am a mixed-media artist! I brainstorm a minimum of 3 times a day with Chat. Then I use another feature called SUMMARY and a new file summarizing my brainstorming process and bullet pointing things I need to notice. Imagine me learning that this NEWEST feature can actually read my daily brainstorming sessions for me and LINK where they intersect...... MAKING A WHOLE NEW SUMMAY just FOR ME, to look at with fresh eyes the next morning, shaving a few hours off my morning..... Weird right? I now do YOGA first thing in the morning. The fact that I can REMIND a program to do that is a flipping LIFE CHANGER for me. Snark is so overrated, dont you think?

I actually have a feature before Matt! - Feeling smug 😂 A slight moan about this right now is, it does not work within projects. That would be very useful. Also, having had a play with the function, it's literally just a reminder and can't act on any of the scheduled items it has stored (unless I'm missing something?). No doubt this will be properly integrated soon though and have proper value.

?? Baffled by the comment that in the future, an: "AI can accomplish real world tasks". At 7AM while I'm finishing my shower, my agent pulls job openings filtered by my criteria (employer, salary range, location, skill fit assessment, etc, & notes, esp: activity log, info, q's, goals, ideal candidate's most important characteristics, thoughts, moving forward), and a link to the job listing. These are either new in the last 24 to be reviewed, or some action nds to be accomplished today. This certainly *seems* a real world task to me...Why is this not the case?

there's not much point using this for reminders or notifications. This would be better for things that need some level of logic to them - like checking if there are any news stories related to a certain topic, or maybe something has dropped below a certain price point, stuff like that. It's all stuff that you could kind of do already, but we're moving towards a tool that can do everything. Just like you used to have to have a separate phone, camera, GPS device, MP3 player, etc - but now you can do all of that in one device.

I can see where this is going, have an AI personal assistant who can decide to reschedule meetings or do actions if you cant, and converse with you to decide what to do, right now, it aint that. For example it could be, do a software release, run a test script, use AI vision to scan for a particular target and take the shot, hours of fun!

I saw the feature today but couldn't think of anything to actually do with it. It would have been cool if it had access to my calendar. As it is though, I don't really see any practical use cases for this. Here's a lesson in software development OpenAI: Step 1 find a need Step 2 fill the need Unfortunately OpenAI took the approach of "What can we possibly do with this tech?" rather than trying to fill any specific need. The result is always a useless pile of 1's and 0's that just take up hard drive space.

It’s kinda mid, I was so excited. I mean it’s OK and the potential is there but they roll out these half assed feature upgrades in my opinion. I should be able to tell it to ping me on advanced voice mobile from my PC in 30 minutes, but I can’t do anything like that at the moment. This is also gonna be a huge load running thousands of asynchronous tasks for users ultimately. Can’t wait for it to get a 2.0-3.0 upgrade to this feature which no reason it shouldn’t get quite quickly. Even on PC I can’t edit the task until I’ve run it and then I go back and edit it because there isn’t an edit button at the moment. Which is what I mean by these half baked product rollouts at OpenAI. It doesn’t take that much finessing too bring this feature into being a very robust tool that everyone could use frequently and lock them in and work across mobile app and desktop. It doesn’t have to be super expansive but it should be better than it is, still I’m hopeful. They get it up to snuff ASAP and it’s definitely a much wanted feature.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of AI managing complete personal databases for our lives: shopping lists, family trees, study notes, calendars, stock lists for all our collections & hobby projects, etc. When people are able to work with LLMs to build their own databases, suddenly we'll no longer need so many custom apps for just managing data.
